You are right there is a large section of Mayweather's fan base that only goes for black american fighters and against anything white. That's not exactly a little known fact. I don't really consider them boxing fans they are just sticking around for a little while but will fade off eventually.

I know plenty of black folks that can't stand Mayweather but actually like a whole range of fighters from all over. It's mainly Mayweather extremists that do the race stuff and hate on euro's for example.

The racists are on both sides. There are many that do hate on blacks because they are black and praise everyone else, e.g. Russians, Europeans, whites, etc.

The majority of Floyd fans, like myself, do no root based on race. A small percentage do, but an equal percentage also root against anyone black, for being black. That there are many racists and white supremacists in the U.S. is not any kind of secret.
