  • Comments Thread For: Report: Lomachenko-Linares Fight Finalized for May 12 at MSG

Promoters Bob Arum and Oscar De La Hoya have overcome what was once considered an insurmountable obstacle to finalize a Vasyl Lomachenko-Jorge Linares fight for May 12. According to a Los Angeles Times report Tuesday, Arum's Top Rank Inc. (Lomachenko) and De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions (Linares) have come to an agreement for Lomachenko to challenge Linares for the Venezuelan's WBA lightweight title May 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York. They struck a deal, according to the Los Angeles Times, because ESPN agreed to air the telecast headlined by Lomachenko-Linares at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, so that it won't be broadcast at the same time as HBO's replay that night of the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin middleweight championship rematch.

Yep, just saw it too. Happy for promoters to get out of their feelings and do what's best for boxing fans.

      I'll go to this one.

LOL @ all the people and there were plenty who said that Arum would never let Loma fight someone outside of the Top Rank stable and that they'd duck Linares. Just like the Rigondeaux fight.

I think this will be a good, competitive fight though and Linares won't quit. High speed chess.

I won't believe it until they are in the ring with each other. Until then Lomaputo is a ducking coward POS

I sternly disagree and think that you would love me in real life if you got to know me. I donate my time to help out eastern-European refugees.

First Rigo and now Linares not looking good for Arum haters and his "in house fights". That's what 3 fights Arum let Loma fight that were risky fights he doesn't benefit if Loma loses, Russell on showtime, Rigo and now this.

Haha yeah and people even claimed he only had Walters to keep him from Lomachenko. Some people are fans or boxers and promoters more than Boxing and it causes irrational views on others fighters and promoters. Bob's no angel but he's delivered good fights for Lomachenko and three, now four of them have had plenty of folks predicting a loss for him.
