    Ive seen a lot of highlights of him but know virtually nothing about his career. Was he actually any good? Who did he beat?

        Unfortunately, he never fought anybody and fought in Argentina his entire career. There was plenty of guys to fight at that weight too. Not sure why he never fought anybody. Don't know his story.

          His defense is among the most impressive of all-time. He's underrated. I fought the vast majority of his career in South America but so did Eder Jofre and Carlos Monzon two of the best fighters ever. The junior divisions back then didn't get as much love as the traditional weight classes. Hence why Carlos Ortiz was the junior welterweight champ and then moved down and really considered that his best world title when he won the lightweight title.

          He beat Kid Pambele who's in the hall of fame (he also lost to him at the end of his career), in addition to beating some very good fighters such as LC Morgan, Eddie Perkins, Adolfo Pruitt, Carlos Hernandez, Alfredo Urbina, fighters that haven't gone down as great fighters but were top contenders in a great era who fought other legends of that time. He did defeat an old Joe Brown who was on the downside of his career when Locche beat him.

          Unfortunately there is not a large amount of footage available of Locche. He fought Carlos Ortiz and Ismael Laguna to draws in Argentina. The Ortiz one was reported as a robbery as most felt Ortiz won. The Laguna one I haven't read a report from that one but there was a rule back in South American back then that you had to be the winner by 4 or more points on two scorecards or more or the fight was a draw. Thus explaining the high number of draws of both he and Monzon. Jofre, for example has 4 draws and 3 of them he'd have been the winner anywhere else in the world but because he won by 2 or 3 points they were draws.

            Locche never fought anybody you say ? He fought Ismael Laguna, Carlos Ortiz and Antonio Cervantes twice. That's just three off the top of my head.

              I missed Cervantes, my fault.

              Just looked at Ortiz' and Laguna's records and I don't recognize a soul on any of them. How come none of those guys fought Duran? They were around at the same times.

                  Ortiz holds wins over the following hall of fame fighters :-

                  Joe Brown
                  Sugar Ramos X2
                  Flash Elorde X2
                  Ismael Laguna X2
                  Duilio Loi

                  The controversial draw in Argentina vs. Loi. He also beat some extremely good contenders in a great era. Johnny Bizzaro, Paulo Rossi, Doug Valiant, Battling Torres, Johnny Busso, Len Matthews etc;

                  He didn't fight Duran because he had retired after losing his title about 3 years before Duran was a top contender. He lost on what was reported as a controversial decision in the Dominican Republic. He mounted a comeback and was one fight away from Duran but lost to Buchanan (who'd recently lost his title to Duran). Duran didn't fight Laguna because Laguna was Duran's idol. Laguna also had lost his championship a few years earlier before Duran had became a champion.

                  Laguna also fought a host of hall of fame fighters himself. Ken Buchanan (the second fight is a classic), Carlos Ortiz x2, Vicente Saldviar, Sugar Ramos. He also defeated some top contenders like Urbina, Hernandez and the draw with Locche.

                  That was a great era. Very underrated fighters.

                    Jesus lol. Ortiz is one of the top 10 greatest lightweights of all time. His resume is stacked. He's probably top 5 tbh. Laguna fought Flash Elorde, Ken Buchanan and Vincente Saldivar, don't you recognize those names ? Elorde is one of the great Filipino fighters. Buchanan is one of the great British fighters and Saldivar is one of the great Mexican fighters.
