It sucks that posters pick and choose which guys they criticize for "titles gifted by promoters" when they need to wither criticize all of these or none of them because its all the same thing. Mikey is no different than Manny or Broner-they all got promoter gift titles.
    This.

Threads like this are half the reason I've been posting so little in the boxing forums. Can't people just appreciate a guy who is a damn good fighter and entertaining? Its like a bunch of females who can't wait to talk **** about someone as soon as they leave the room.

It seems like 90% of comments about Mikey reflect poster anger about how he handled his career to date.

He left TR and sat out while the legal situation played out. This pissed off posters that just want fighters to fight regardless of whether they are in a bad contract or not. His move to Haymon/Schaeffer only intensified poster anger.

So now his resume will get judged based off this rather than the actual quality of the fighters.

garcia left to fight guys like broner and lipinets what the....a guy like bradley left his promoter to fight pac. that makes a lot more sense to me. the reason he left is because haymon agreed to make him into a star regardles of opponent. the only way he was going to become a star with top rank is if he won his way to the top against tough opponents and he wasnt down with that. going through guys like gamboa, crawford, loma, etc...hmmm no thanks ill take lipinets and a load of cash. i dont blame him but we dont have to respect him for it

When Bradley left for TR, the best boxer in the world and best WW was Floyd. Rather than fight the best, he signed with TR and fought Casamayor than Manny. TR overpaid Bradley to fight lesser men than Floyd

You criticize Garcia for this but celebrate Bradley. Extremely hypocritical.

As for winning to become a star at TR- you didn't think Tim beat Manny. So yeah you have to win at TR-but that only happens if Bob gerrymanders the win. Which he then parlays into 3 fights.

Tim neither became a star nor earned the same amount against other opponents.

As for winning tough fights, Rigo did that against Nonito, upset the apple cart, and got shelved for doing so.

Come on daggum. You are completely off with your criticism here. This is nothing more tham "I hate Haymon so I now will criticize Mikey" BS.

This has been the story for his whole career. It's why he retired.for 2 years so his TR contract could end. He wanted no part of Gamboa.

actually manny was ranked #1 p4p and was the #1 ww when bradley signed to top rank in september of 2011. here are the rankings from the end of 2011.

you wanted him to wait around for floyd to fight him(dubious) instead of getting a guaranteed fight against the best boxer on the planet? makes no sense. bradley left to fight the best. garcia left to fight lipinets. those are opposites.

bro, he meant in his opinion. in his opinion, floyd remains #1 even after 20 years later.

That's the important question. Only Canelo (Floyd), although he came up way short.

He has a solid resume. It's about time he faces another top fighter. Broner is not a top fighter. That fight was dressed up as a big challenge when it never was.

I will never forget the Gamboa thing. And I think he would have beaten Gamboa, but he outright did not want to fight Gamboa. He basically retired because of it.
