That's not exactly how it works. Your top previous earnings do count, but more than that counts what you bring to the table. Wilder is one of the 3 most popular heavyweights in the world today. He's a very very strong b side, someone who helps AJ maximize his earnings.

Perfect comparison for this is Golovkin. His max earnings were also like 3-4m. Didn't stop him from earning 20-30m vs. Canelo, because there's no one else who can help Canelo maximize his earnings.
