He would give any of the current top heavyweights a lot of problems. Hope he gets in the ring fit with some of the bigger names.

He had the fastest hands in the division, faster than Parker.

175? Geez, you want the poor guy to die in training....

I have actually thought he would be a real good CW if he could make the division, but LHW? Can't see it.

"I think he could be a top notch 175 pounder." .....hahahaha..

above...here's a future professional conditioner......he would be arrested for manslaughter... This kid needs to train down to 215-222lbs and get his "work rate up". He beats Parker with better conditioning and has the talent to get in with bigger punchers and make them miss. His power will increase as he adds stamina and speed to his game.
As far as strong base skills and boxing knowledge this kid is above the rest. He started in the J.O. programs and was a competitor since he was a kid. As he got older he got into bad habits with his conditioning because he won bouts when he wasn't 100%.
I hope this kid rededicates himself and that he has a counsel that can explain 100% is all everybody has to give. 130 doesn't exist!

If David Benevidez who used to weigh 250 pounds could come down to 168 and still have a little body fat, Ruiz could come down to 175. But he is fighting in the wrong division for sure.

Well, that has to be more the exception than the rule, but fair point.

But I agree with you- he is not naturally powerful enough for HW. He is strictly a "B" level fighter at his complete best with a decent chance to go on a very impressive losing streak to other "B" levels.

This guy used to be 300 pounds and he really should be fighting in Light Heavyweight. Is heavyweight division really so bad that people call him top contender?

disappointing to say the least, a year out and is actually fatter than we last seen him. I think dude is one of those dudes who needs the weight to be the best he can be but I think she should at least convert the fat to muscle and stay the same weight. No reason for him to be flabby as shit.

                      Its good Ruiz is back.

A win will certainly put him in the mix for a possible title eliminator fight in the fall.
