Exactly, whats the problem with that? He's a good contender, but is not an all time great like some make him out to be. For some reason, Mayweather has fought Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, and many other good fighters yet he's afraid of a lumbering welterweight who hasn't beaten any significant fighters He's a good fighter, but certainly not the assasin some make him out to be.

I just hope this helps him land some big fights.

Yeah I sure hope he does get big fights pretty soon. That's the only way to find out if he's over rated or not.

Well Margarito is the type of guy who Floyd has the best chance of losing to. An opponent with a good punch and a good chin. Most people don't stand much of a chance against PBF and somebody like Margarito has at least a puncher's chance. That being said, I don't think Margarito has earned a shot against PBF.

Well, I dunno. Mayweather has a title belt in the division, giving him some sort of position in the welterweight ranks. PBF claims to be the best in the welterweight division, whereas Margarito is the number one contender in the division. While Mayweather may be lightyears ahead of Margarito as far as accumulated accomplishments in the sport, Margarito is the more accomplished welterweight. I think that if you are gonna fight in a division, whoever has the higher standing in that division deserves a shot at you.

That said, I still think that Margarito, while he is stylistically somewhat a difficult challenge, is not the kind of talent that can hang with a Mayweather. I think his looping shots and chin will work against trial horses like Manuel Gomez and Antonio Diaz, but against a world class fighter liek Mayweather, Margarito simply isn't in his class.

i thought this thread was about margarito accepting the offer from don king to fight luis collazo. it was mentioned that king offered margarito some money but not enough. if he cant land the big fight that he wants he should fight one that people want to watch.
i don't think anyone wants to see mayweather destroy margarito.

In the mean time I honestly woudn't mind seeeing him fight Mitchell.

I know it's a meaningless fight and he'd stalk him down, but Mitchell can move and it would be nice to compare his preformance agaisnt Floyd.
