Do you not think with the right promotion, a carefully chosen undercard and the active support of a US network that Hearn couldn't sell a chance for a NY native born fighter to contest for 3 HW belts in AJ's first appearance in the US?

I'm not so sure, I think it could do good business. No guarantees and not the kind of ticket revenues that Wembley offers, but maybe with Miller not wanting as big a slice as other potential opponents and AJ's sponsors enjoying the US exposure and supporting him with their own cross marketing campaigns it could be both lucrative in its own right and also help to kick start the building of the Joshua brand in the US in advance of a Wilder fight in Vegas?

Come on Al isn't sprinkling much more than a few hundred grand on top. The Cotto purse would just be his guarantee as it was a PPV fight so his total purse would be higher depending on how many buys it does.

You have no idea what Al is actually paying. Wilder could be getting 4 million and you'd have no idea. The Cotto fight was NOT a PPV. So that theory is right out the window.

Sell a fight in New York off of the strength of "Big Baby" Miller? No, I don't think that it'll work.

Besides, that's not to say that Anthony Joshua won't sell any tickets; Anthony Joshua vs TBA is basically at the point in the UK that he's in stadium fights until his heat comes off, and even then will likely be still settling out the O2 until he's no longer competitive at the world level.

Matchroom Sport would be over the moon if they could get 8000 into the building for Joshua-Miller at big-event, NY prices.

I imagine he already does. Think a lot of Americans think Hearn is the one that calls the shots, when he isn't. Hearn is just public face, taking all the heat. Joshua has his own team of people, they tell Hearn what they want, and he goes get.

So, whether the Wilder fight does/doesn't happen next, then it's not Hearn to blame its the fighter himself?
