I don't believe that. I think boxing is such an entertaining event that it'll never die unless our culture severely changes to some ultimate PC/nerf'd up world where two guys hitting each other in the head for 36 minutes is deemed socially unacceptable & financially unfundable due to the masses who see it as inhumane.
And even then I've theorized numerous times here I could see a future where boxing in a VR world, unlike one we could even imagine today as that technology progresses, where no competitor is ever injured at all is a likely way I could see boxing turning that could be a more acceptable form of the sport to a bigger mass of people who would be against the more savage & dangerous version we know now.
100%. Things are going right in boxing in a number of ways. Even that TR/ESPN deal was a nice lil thing & I love what TR is doing on the next level of viewing boxing with their ability to customized your view of the fight which is the power you'll see used more & more as TV flips over from broadcast to streaming. Alternate commentary is coming to I'd bet. I've been wanting the ability to turn off the commentary completely myself for f#cking a decade or more now. I'd pay extra on some app to have the ability to shut Lampley & crew down. But that & the things I mentioned already are cuz people are seeing upside in boxing right now I believe.
Well the thing with PPV to is I believe PPV is a dying or adjusting concept right now is a part of the thing with that. I think a lot of people don't see THAT much value in buying a PPV with one fight they wanna see. They don't find it consumer friendly. Why can't I buy the main fight only? Why can't I buy the whole card if I'm a boxing dork? Why aren't we streaming this so I can customized my viewing of this thing I'm paying extra for vs other boxing events I watch for free?.
Basically there are a lot of problems with PPV boxing minus the ability for any a$$hole with a cellphone to be able to stream it live on his FB page that is hurting the product they are selling.
Its a business model that hasn't changed or has given you much more innovation or value since I first started watching it & understanding it in the 90's. Thats a problem that needs to be fixed if the PPV boxing business model is ever going to thrive outside of a few name guys in each era.

Although I will say RIGHT NOW boxing is in better place then it has for a few years but at the end of every decade the numbers keep going down.
I mean people use PPV numbers to say boxing is growing that's a flawed viewpoint.PPV is growing as the biggest PPV is REALLY prob Holy/Foreman it drew like 1.8 at a time when there was only 8 mil homes with PPV.I know I had to go one town over and rent a hotel room with friends we bought a keg and charged for cups to make it back lol.May/Pac got 4.6 but there are 100 mil plus with PPV now.
