  • Comments Thread For: Canelo's Positive Test: Golovkin's Promoter, Golden Boy React

Earlier today, Golden Boy Promotions released a statement regarding the fact that Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez had tested positive for a trace level amount of clenbuterol as he looks ahead to his May 5th rematch with unified middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin. So the question is, what is the status of this fight that is scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas?

"We're going to continue as if there's still a fight till we hear something different from the Nevada Athletic Commission," said Tom Loeffler, the head of GGG Promotions, to BoxingScene.com.
AKA Team GGG cares less about this positive drug test than 99% of posters here. Their only concern is that the fight is still on. Which is also my only concern about this situation.

I'm a fan but it's su****ious that an athlete as fabulously rich as he is would be taking the risk of eating contaminated meat.

I'm sure he's the country's richest athlete. If there was word of contaminated meat, wouldn't you take measure to avoid it in his shoes?

Not buying this excuse. I need more context.
