the point is that he was the favorite, but that he should not be, given his level of experience and lack of development. and you have talent [6'7", 7' reach, hardest hitter in boxing,] to thank for that.
Nope I have fathom everything in this scenario, so no am not missing the point. Is Wilder the most powerful one punch KO HW or boxer? I really believe we can make a case for that, but to call him the most gifted boxer since Ali is chatting rubbish.

He isn’t even the most gifted fighter over the last 15 years.

if you read my posts you'll see my stance on the bolded, he's obviously not the most talented boxer of the last 15 years and that was hyperbole. gotta look at the entire interview, not just a headline designed to get casual people to click it.

richardson argues that he's got about as much experience, 10 years or so, as the kids who are competing in the US nationals. certainly not the top of amateur boxing in teh world, nevermind pro boxing where guys make millions of dollars. and joshua, too, he says the same thing about.

so in that regard these guys should be favored to beat wilder. but they aren't. and that's because he's got a ton of talent. and it goes beyond power.

I'll allow that Wilder has some natural gifts such as height, length, reach, athleticism, speed and power. Hooking up with Mark Breland was a smart move to try to hone Wilder's skill, which is lacking to a degree. However, I still believe that his days as champ are numbered. Ortiz nearly stopped him and Joshua likely will. It will be interesting to see how far he can go as he steps up in competition.
