I am a Wilder fan and it's safe to say (IN MY OPINION) that he is not exactly the best or most skilled 'boxer'.
With that being said, I do feel Gervonta's choice of words are quite disrespectful... It's one thing to have an opinion, but it's a whole other ballgame to say some insulting disrespectful sh*it.
I am on the fence with being a Gervonta fan. I truly respect young fighters who are gifted/talented/hard working and are a threat to anyone in and around their weight division.. I love to support these fighters at all cost! but what throws me off is how much a fighter can make excuses and avoid equal or stronger opposition in and around their division. All TRUE champions make it clear that they want to fight the best at any given moment/opportunity... Gervonta saying 'not at this time' or 'I never need to fight so and so, etc.' to prove anything in my career is disrespect to true champions, let alone his choice of words.
Love or hate Wilder, he overcame adversity and people NEED to give him credit. We can call him windmill and say all this dumb sh*it about him, but at the end of the day we saw him step up and DESTROY a difficult test. I was rooting for Wilder, but I felt he was going to lose via UD in the favor of Ortiz... After surviving a brutal attack which he has never experienced in his life (keep in mind he was never dropped), he regained his psychical and mental state and ****ING DEMOLISHED Ortiz.
Wilder takes ****s bigger than Gervonta, he would make him his tom girl.
At least Wilder is trying to fight the best and Ortiz is a better win than anyone of Davis' resume. Wilder is chasing Joshua, Davis is running from Lomachenko. Big difference in heart.
He was getting outboxed and almost stopped until Ortiz gassed. You can try and spin it but that's what happened. All he proved is that he had a better conditioning than Ortiz.
How much more can you hate on Wilder's victory? Conditioning is an extremely important fundamental in boxing. Nobody trains to be the best during the first 4 rounds in a 12 round fight.
Even if this was the single sole reason for his victory, he did what he had to do to win. It's not like he used ****ing elbows/headbutts or PED's to win. He did what he had to do to survive and destroy Ortiz.
.....AND HOW CAN WE FORGET THE INSANE WEIGHT DIFFERENCE
He was getting outboxed and almost stopped until Ortiz gassed. You can try and spin it but that's what happened. All he proved is that he had a better conditioning than Ortiz.
Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
At heavyweight power punches landing is what counts.
However you get them there doesn’t matter as long as they get there. Wilder has knocked out every boxer he has faced, including Ortiz.
The only thing I don’t like is he doesn’t mix in a body attack.
If he went to the body he would get his KOs easier.
