Wilder is #3 behind Povetkin, just compare their resumes.

Joshua is the clear #1 and the only real champion out there. The rest is nothing. All of the other Heavyweights will get beaten by Gassiev/Usyk who will move up from Cruiser.

It’s a lot better than in 2006 when Sergei Lialhovich and Oleg Maskaev were World heavyweight champions

Not anymore. After last night, you are going to be in the extreme extreme minority if you keep Povetkin ahead of Wilder. Wilder just jumped Povetkin in the boxrec rankings, so you can't play the resume card anymore since boxrec is computerized and purely going by resume.

I'll consider Wilder the world's best heavyweight, if he convincingly beats the winner of Joshua vs Parker.

At least we had a dominant highly skilled champion in Wlad and then also another elite champion in Vitali for the majority of the 00’s. But that era was also pretty weak. 2006 was a shocking year for HW boxing, as well as the two you mentioned, Valuev was also a titleholder😬😬😬

Your anti American agenda is showing through again. Absolutely no credible boxing publication, organization or fan rates Povetkin above Wilder.

I'm a big Wilder fan, and am rooting for him to beat Joshua. But he's not #1 right now.

He definitely has a case for it seeing how he defeated the best contender who was also his worst stylistic nightmare. Let me copy what I said in other thread: I've watched the fight again and man, Wilder really outboxed Ortiz. On top of landing more, he landed way more jabs, kept distance very well and countered well. In fact, all times that Ortiz went down it started with counters. His small steps didn't let Ortiz find his range and he was ducking preemptively after most big rights, what inabled Ortiz to counter them. To top it off, he adjusted to the right hook that hurt him and blocked it afterwards
P.S.: Ortiz wasn't gassed, he was hurt

I don’t think there is a number 1 until after the unification. Wilder, Fury, Joshua have to fight each other. Without these fights no one can be crowned number one.

That's fair^. I personally rate Ortiz very high based on his apparent skill and this win places Deontay slightly ahead of Joshua for me. However, it's completely up for debate and any reasonable fan would admit that.

Side note, now that we know Deontay can take a punch, I think AJ is in trouble because his chin is fragile and Deontay is the hardest, and possibly fastest, hitter AJ will have seen in the pros.
