He is a dirty fighter but boxing history is full of boxers dirtier than Ward. I would never call him a Coward. He was a brave champion. Good referees shouldn't have let him get away with his dirty tactics but too often they did.

When it comes to dirty fighters Evander must be in anyone's top 5 , I was ringside at Madison Square Garden , I seen Holyfield headbutt then throw a short right forearm & elbow smash that hit Bobby Czyz above the right eye I thought the would find his eyebrows in Jersey. Then his fight with Ray Mercer i thought was a MMA fight with all the low blows and forearm shots. Very Dirty Real Deal
