Edwin Valero vs. Vassyl Lomachenko at 135

Yeah it's jacked up what he did to his family but I'm mostly here to talk boxing. Valero's case is similar to the middleweight standout from the 80's "El Torito" Tony Ayala Jr. I think Ayala could have been a legitimate ATG middleweight and Valero probably would of been just an average guy.Comment

I think had he lived he'd have been fed to Pacquaio around 2011 and been destroyed. He'd have maybe won another title but would also have lost to some of the better guys from that time 135-147. He'd have had a good career but the HOF wouldn't have been calling IMO.Comment

Polls do mean sht when the fighters dont have huge biased fanbases. Dude, you have no brains. Valero never fought SHT and destroyed his career and his life. Get a clue if you have to beg, borrow, or steal one!!! Lom's comp SHTS all over Valero's. There is no comparison and you are too ***ing ****** or bias to see that. Dont bother responding, I block idiots like you. You have ZERO argument against the facts. Go. Leave, I will not be reading any more of your idiotic responses, which means you'll still reply and be too ****** to know I wont even see it.Last edited by richardt; 03-03-2018, 02:01 PM.Comment

But I understand where you are coming from with regards to his bias. I know what he will say without reading it and it's a bias that's not just based on what does and doesn't happen in the ring. Actually I know what he'll say on basically any boxer or fight before he posts.
I'm in the Valero was overrated camp. But I've spoken to fighters, trainers and people that saw him up close and swear by his talent and that he'd KO some greats. I've heard similar things about Loma's level from people that have been in the gym. I've seen Loma live 5 times close to the ring and I'm utterly impressed with him.
Valero was still fairly unproven though you are right his resume is behind what Loma's was even after 5 fights BUT that doesn't mean it's a lock Loma wins though I'd wager heavily on it.Last edited by chrisJS; 03-03-2018, 02:04 PM.Comment

You are right he has an insane bias and a major problem with Lomachenko HOWEVER competition doesn't guarantee a dude beats another dude. Styles make fights and there's tons of instances of an inferior resume cat beating a superior resume dude.

True. But to me, when a fighter not only has fought the better comp, but has had a far better career, and didnt manage to destroy himself and his career - then when a matchup is not possible, the ledger and skills are what count and Lom had both of those over Valero who couldnt even keep his career, himself, or his wife alive. And yeah, Ragmuffin is as biased as it gets.
Chocolatito is an example of a great fighter with a superior resume/much better competition defeated to Finito Lopez and Too Sharp Johnson but I'd back either of those guys to beat Chocolatito handily. Sometimes it's just like that. I'd pick Bivol and Gvozdyk handily to beat Kovalev but Kovalev's resume wipes his ass with both those combined.Comment

Haven't you implied that once a boxer turns pro he can no longer improve?
What win(s) of Valero impressed so much?
I didn't see Valero's 2nd pro fight but he likely doesn't beat Salido in that. His 20th fight against Mosquera he looked sloppy as hell and got dropped. Mosquera is a lesser fighter than Rocky Martinez. He's not even as good as Jason Sosa yet that's Valero's 2nd best win. Valero's competition was like Wilder's but I do think he had a ton of raw talent and power.
Are you trying to kill two birds with one stone mentioning Wilder and Valero? Convoluted thoughts lol lmao?
Valero stopped the guy that stopped Linares who Loma might fight. And he stopped DeMarco with a bad gash in his head. Say what you want about Mosquera but Valero went to his backyard and stopped him.
Valero wasn’t just a slugger. He had a jab, movement and power. And he was better than Salido. To think that Loma beats Valero is your choice, but I say that Valero comes forward and bashes the **** out Loma who imo would run the whole fight.Comment

Clint Mitchell beat Hopkins and who the hell is Mitchell? Hopkins beat some good dudes that I'd say were even better than Mitchell.
Manny Pacquaio lost to Sungsurat and TorreCampo but he beat some HOF great fighters. He also got a draw with Agapito Sanchez who Barrera almost shut out and what happened with Pacquaio and Barrera? I scored both fights wide for Pacquaio who IMO beat Barrera.
It's a flawed logic. Also resume vs. resume is flawed logic too in a head to head match but it's got more logic than a "he lost to him so he can't beat him logic". I could probably give you around 500,000 analogies that prove that flawed.Comment
