    Let's not forget.
Wilder turned down more money in a fight with Whyte.
Wilder never fought Klitschko or anyone in the top 30 other than an overrated Stiverne the first fight.
Wilder calls out AJ and wants it at 50/50, but he can't even sell out Barclays Center
The last three Wilder fights were Stiverne, Arreola and Washington...yuck
This is basically the first time he's stepped up in 39 fights. AJ has 20 fights and 3 belts...while working on a 4th
The real reason Wilder is calling out AJ is because AJ will make him rich. Also because Parker and his team did the same thing and it worked.

I think how people perceive the Wilder Ortiz fight will depend how Ortiz looks. I'm not talking about hardcore boxing fans, or the people you'll see on these forums so much as the public at large.

part of the reason AJ got so much credit after the Klitschko fight was that it was a good fight and Wlad *looked* like he was in good form, as well as the fact that Wlad was already well-known by the public at the time (and even if not he could be presented as the man who - until very recently - ruled over the division with an iron fist).

If Ortiz looks like he's a real threat in there and Wilder negotiates the difficulties that Ortiz presents him before brutally stopping him then Wilder's fanbase will really start to get some traction.

If Ortiz comes in looking laboured, sluggish and old and Wilder KOs him, I think the public will take the same amount of notice of Wilder as they have in the past, i.e. some but not a great deal.

In short, the greater the risk, the greater the reward.

We really have no idea if that's true.

We don't know what Wilder actually gets paid, so how could we compare?

We don't know the difference in tax liabilities. There are so many things we don't know.

Stop believing everything Eddie Hearn says. He's a promoter. His job is to lie.

I give w props for taking this fight

The thing that would make him it's the same thing that made Joshua

              To come back from adversity
To get damaged by a good Ortiz but come back and win

              No argument then

Provided both fighters look good in the process (which is very possible) then yes.

I think any true boxing fan hopes that that is the outcome on Saturday night.

It's the best result for the sport as a whole.

Ortiz is a walking punch bag with a thump of a punch if somehow he lands it clean wilders lady legs will crumble otherwise ref stops the onslaught

When you rely on pure power and size as your claim to fame you are climbing a slippery slope. Ortiz has much more skill than Wilder. Should he get past Ortiz AJ will beat him. Definitely.
