The reason Canelo is disliked by Mexicans

I was never a fan of his style. He does just enough to win fights but isnt the type to close the show in wow fashion. He does everything good but nothing extraordinary.

He may one of the few stars in Boxing but i dont see him as being exceptionally better than his foes.

There has been so much BS going around that I feel someone needs to clear this up. I myself am a Mexican/American (Mexican Parents born in USA) not that it matters but I used to root for Canelo until he became a arrogant prick. In short it's not his boxing it's his mouth.

I've followed boxing for some time now and yes I was all for Canelo for sometime but something in him changed I don't know if it was the fame or money that did it but he isn't the same likeable guy he was 3-4 years ago.

I'm sure many of you have seen the way he carries himself in interviews saying things like "I've made history in this sport" witch he hasn't even come close to doing or "even though a lot of people don't like it I'm the best". It's the things he says that make a lot of us boxing fans not like him.

Most of my family didn't agree with me until right before Canelo vs JCC Jr. During the press tour on lots of Mexican aired shows in witch they appeared in, Canelo just made himself look like a complete prick so bad that at one point JCC Sr broke character to tell Canelo to stop with the BS already and to be a man. Canelo at one point bet his purse against JCC Jr than said " it doesn't matter I'm gonna make 4 times more than you."

This is what makes me hate Canelo, the fact the he believes he is a all time great when in fact he isn't. You can be a Champion and have people not like you but Canelo is hardly even that. His Resume is not impressive by any means either. If Canelo wants to be considered the greatest he has a long list to go. Forget GGG for a bit these are all boxers he could of faced by now but hasn't and I don't want to hear **** about weight cause these are mostly welterweights the division Canelo has been in for the past few years. If these names were on his resume then I'd consider it a great one.

Canelo is one of the most dynamic Mexican fighters to date. Kirkland bout he ****** it out that on the ropes that most Mexican pugilists don'T even do. Fought Smith and Cotto differently. Made Smith take a knee with a vicious bodyshot, and ended it with a montrous shot. Canelo is a sharp shooter.

First Mexican Champ at 154 & 160. Canelo is a boss!

they're false claims. The current heat is getting to GGG Fans because of Abel's latest racist comments that is affecting GGG's image. They're throwing wrenches to stir attention away with these falsehoods. No Mexican boxer in its history has given back to the poor or for disaster relief because none have earned as much as Canelo.

Yea he is a good boxer no doubt about it but Kirkland was made to order for him, damaged good.
Cmon Smith is a British bum and Sadam Ali will beat him more impressively.

He barely beat an old Cotto who was also fighting above his prime weight.

I like Juan Estrada way better.

early in his career marquez didn't get the shine of barrera and morales because he used his legs after he landed his counters or his combinations. he didn't start to develop a reputation as a blood and guts guy really unitl he fought diaz and katsidis and went life and death, and that was after he'd slowed down. believe me, prime marquez doesn't do that on purpose.

yes, he went to war with pacquiao in 1 and 2, but those were actaully fought at a much more deliberate pace than the diaz and katsidis fights. both marquez and pacquiao were content in those first two fights particularly to take breaks and box. they were wars and classics because of how good they both were, the stakes, and because their styles meshed so well for them to trade leather and for them to both be effective offensively. neither pacquiao nor marquez came forward exclusively looking to slug.

so was marquez not a mexican fighter in his prime because he was so good that he didnt' need to take one to land one? this "not a true mexican" fighter stuff is usually coming from guys who aren't really in a position to talk about how the mexican greats actually fought.

golovkin didn't have the speed and wasn't young enough to really test alvarez. yeah, he ahd the power, a great jab, but he didn't have enough to put the former on canelo after the latter landed. in time he will fight somebody who can! give him a chance to, you know, actually fight out a career, before you indict the guy for not being mexican enough for you.

its funny how people can hold this against a fighter for saying it...but when golovkins fans have been doing the same thing for years and we laughed and mocked them for it they said "omg how can u hate a fighter because of what his fans say"

canelo is entitled to say whatever he wants or believes...its just like when floyd said hes TBE and everyone got their panties knotted....it doesnt matter what floyd says...it only matters what you believe

canelo can say whatever....but his resume isnt bad and hes a pretty good fighter....thats about how i feel about him
