I like Nery's style, he's a fun fighter to watch, but **** that guy! PED's the first time around and then 2 weight classes above the 2nd, will be rooting hard to see this guy get plastered to the canvas staring up into la la land
If this had been a grueling affair and Neri fought with a physically imposing style, I can see how weight could have been a big factor. However, Neri fought him at range in the center of the ring and was picking him apart with superior timing and teeing off. Yamanaka didn't have anything for him from the opening bell.
It was definitely a bad look for him to come in overweight, but if he did so deliberately, why would he come in well below the same day limit instead of pushing the advantage? Last year he had missed his first weigh in attempt by several pounds for a fight before making it in the second attempt, so it's safe to say it's time for him to move up.
