I'm not saying he's a feather fist. Floyd has zip in he's shots that you don't walk through them, but he's not a puncher ala Thurman. I think Canelos build makes people think he should be a puncher, just looking at him visually. But he's record says otherwise.

I agree. Some of those slip and rip to 3Gs body told him to be cautious. Theres a reason 3G didn't cut off the ring and go to the body. Imo, he felt those shots early on. The body shots from Canelo in the first 6 rounds were very effective and i think Made 3G fight the way he did.

Now I admit I was a Canelo fan, but also I'm a boxing fan! Somebody was running backwards and it wasn't GGG.

running usually involves a boxer to continually retreat from corner to corner in one sequence. Canelo specifically went to the ropes and stayed there because that’s where Golovkin needs to set up his hard shots to the body. Golovkin had no idea an opponent would play rope a dope, to use the ropes in making the other swing and miss. People forget that rope a dope is an interesting tactic to coast your weight as an advantage because you can’t fall backwards when ropes are holding you. It was a brilliant tactic.

Think it was shocking for him when he hit GGG with some amazingly hard shots and Gennady would just nod and keep coming forward. I was watching an interview with Paulie and he talked about how that mentally effects a boxer when his hardest punches aren't hurting someone and they're in your face repeatedly. It could be said that Canelo was trying to do enough to win since he didn't (couldn't) fight like he normally does and had to be on the move most of the fight (which is a great way not to be knocked out), but hey--that's boxing. You make adjustments. I don't think he won the first fight, but everyone sees this differently. I'm surprised he's talking this much, though. I think Abel has him pretty upset. He's going to have to box it out this time--and I really do think this fight will be a lot different than the last with both fighters going after each other.
