How is even even a debate that Lomachenko is P4P#1?

Lomachenko didn't look great against Rigondeax, didn't look great against Marriaga, and will likely now not look great in his next fight (if you don't open yourself up on Lomachenko's baits, he's yet to figure out a way to get his offense around that in an effective way).

You add that he's only had 11 fights, with three fights against good opponents, and you're jumping the gun.

Folks arguing Crawford as the default #1 do so simply because he's been in as many fights as he has and has yet to really look ordinary in any of them. The hang-up on him is that the resume is still pretty weak.

What do you mean he didnt look great against rigo and marriaga? He toyed with them. And its not like hes just fighting bums other than rigo and walters, hes actually fighting the contenders like sosa and rocky martinez and destroying them too.

When GGG faced someone from two weigh classes below him, their corner threw in the towel in the 5th.

But beating up on guys from lower weight classes shouldn't carry much weight (pardon the pun) in pound for pound rankings.

The question is whether GGG is dominating his weight class more than Lomachenko is dominating his weight class.

Lomachenko holds the least important title in his weight class and has not fought any of the other champions in his division. He's obviously a great fighter, but when ranking fighters "pound for pound" to determine who has been most impressive and accomplished at their weight, it's hard to know how good Lomachenko is when he's not fighting the best fighters at his weight.

We shouldn't be dealing in double hypotheticals. Pound for pound is already a fairly silly hypothetical concept. So if we're going to try to figure out who has been most impressive at their weight, we should based it on results and accomplishments as much as possible. Because if the argument is that hypothetically Lomachenko would beat the other champions in his division, we're now dealing with a double hypothetical. Whereas GGG has actually proven himself be dominating his division, winning the three most important belts and facing the biggest challenges available.

Winning the least important title and then beating up on fighters from lower weight classes shouldn't make you #1 pound for pound. Other fighters have proven themselves much more at their weights.

Weight classes exist for a reason. Lomachenko is a great fighter. A great 130 pound fighter will beat a great 122 pound fighter 99 times out of 100.

I have him number 1 but some people don't have him that high. Pound for pound best is just personal opinion and not provable fact. If you think he is clearly number 1 then put him number 1 just don't expect everyone to agree with you. Boxing fans think for themselves and make their own decisions on who is the best pound for pound and that's just the way it is. There is rarely a boxer who is so good that everyone agrees he is the best pound for pound boxer in the world. Crawford, GGG and Spence all have a good case for being the best pound for pound boxer in the world just like Loma does and they are all undefeated except Loma.

He has 3 wins better than Crawford, and although ggg is obviously my favourite fighter, lomachenkos got more of that invincibility factor at present and has been looking sensational. You can't say that you toyed with a guy when you only landed 10% of your punches.

Floyd could fight "Cashflow" Diaz, but if he was only able to land 10% of his punches, no one in their right mind would hail him as being p4p.

Terence Crawford has fought softer opposition, but against whomever he is put in with, he leaves no doubt in his ability; Jeff Horn is the first guy who Crawford if going to fight that he's not bigger than, so let's see how he reacts.
