Rungvisai - Hope he is Not the Next Pacquiao!

When Pac beat Barrera and Morales I was lovin it, Pac showed up on the scene with a big time performance, putting the boxing world on notice! All the way up to Pac's KO over Ricky Hatton I was on board but then he moved up to welterweight and things got sour...

Rungvisai's win over Gonzalez in my opinion is equally as impressive as Pac's win over Barrera. I am rooting for him tonight to take down Estrada, similarly to how Pac ultimately defeated Morales. But if Rung is successful what happens next?

Does HBO start giving him the Manny treatment? Calling him p4p, saying he's better than Crawford, Loma..do they start the non-stop marketing hype machine? HBO needs a star real bad and I'd hate to see them grab Rungvisai and try to make him Pac II.

With HBO he'll end up with a Golovkin-like fanbase and I wouldn't be surprised if hardcore fans went from enjoying Rung to wanting to see him get knocked out just like what ultimately happened to Pac. I would love to see Rung be successful and get paid but Jim Lampley and Kellerman will make us hate Rungvisai if left in their hands!

Boxing fans just need to keep things in perspective. HBO hype doesn't mean a fighter is bad.

Yeah but HBO is in a position of trying to force create a new star...let's not forget PBC and Arum have taken their talent to network television. HBO has nobody but Canelo

Honestly dude, Rungvisai has raw power that carries him. I don't see as much skill technically with him that Pac had showed during the Barrera fight. In fact I think a lot of it had to do more so with Choc going up in weight and not being able to handle it as well as we thought he might.

Rungvisai's punches aren't all that technically skillful looking. In fact some of them look amatuerish that he threw at Choc but like I said, with the power behind them and Choc not handling the weight as well, it did damage. I couldn't see him having a rise similar to Pac, not to mention the age already that he's at.

I will never understand why people dislike a fighter because of what their promoters or fanbases do. Fuck does it matter who else likes them or what they say about 'em? Have courage in your own convictions, man. Why would someone else's opinions change the way you think about a fighter?

HBO doesn't control most boxing fans. They think for themselves and make up their own mind. You make it sound like being a GGG fan is some terrible thing. Why? He is rated top three pound for pound best by almost everybody so he is a damn good fighter and not some make believe good fighter who is only a product of HBO hype. GGG defends his titles twice as often as most champions and he almost always knocks his opponent out. What's not to like? Most boxing fans aren't so ****** as to buy into hype if the boxer is not that good. What was so terrible about Pac fighting at welterweight? He gave us some damn good fights at welterweight even if he is more of a lightweight than a welterweight. Not liking a boxer because you don't like some of his fans seems ****** to me. Boxers have no control over what their fans say or do. Like or dislike a boxer for himself and not for his fans.

Yea hopefully his head doesnt grow from taking so much PED's, then continuously moves up in weight while somehow keeping his power.

I wouldn't want him to then decline a huge fight against terence crawford at 147 because of olympic style drug testing, that would be a shame.
