Look how quick you are to move the goal posts. I was responding to somebody intimating that Shawn was ducking Garcia, clearly unaware that Shawn accepted that fight just a few months ago. No, it was not a while ago. It was supposed to be a major fight in late November or early December. We're still in February. Since when is a couple months ago "that was a while ago"?

As for Spence, Spence isn't available. He has a mandatory due and Porter isn't even in the IBF's top 15. It's not Porter's fault that you have no idea how fights get made.

Porter is Thurman's mandatory. Thurman is #1 in the division. Thurman is the unified champion and brings the most money to the table.

Why in the world would Porter give up his guaranteed shot? Doesn't make any sense. At least with the Garcia fight, if Porter won, he'd be interim champion, still have a guaranteed shot, and be entitled to a higher percentage. But to give that up to go chase Spence would be absolutely ludicrous.

I’m aware that Garcia supposedly avoided the fight with Porter and yes now that Garcia fought Rios and Garcia also gets a mandatory shot, it is irrelevant as it has nothing to do with Porter mentioning everyone except Spence. Why go in the ring after the Garcia-Rios fight? By the way, Mandatories don’t mean much when both fighters are with Haymon. It’s not like it’s going to a purse bid. Porter could make more money stepping up to Spence as opposed to waiting around for what he views as an easier fight in Thurman. Porter and Garcia aren’t getting any younger

Mandatories mean EVERYTHING when you're with Haymon. Why do you think he's constantly staging eliminators? He's trying to create a backlog so other people's fighters can't become mandatory to belts he controls. He has to be very meticulous to maintain control of the division. If he made every fight boxingscene wanted, the second boxingscene wanted it, he'd lose control of the division within two years.

Porter could make more money stepping up to Spence as opposed to waiting around for what he views as an easier fight in Thurman.

FALSE. Dude, stop posting blatant lies. If fighting Spence paid more than fighting Thurman, than Porter would be demanding Spence. Fighting Thurman pays more, so he wants Thurman.

Dude you stop. I, like most people on this board, am a boxing fan as opposed to being affiliated with any promotional outfit or TV station. I am not sympathetic to anyone manipulating sanctioning bodies in order to delay certain fights that fans want to see and/or advancing certain fights that fans DON’T want to see. As much as I like Haymon and appreciate his efforts and investment to bring boxing to mainstream tv, this situation with other Haymon fights being afraid to mention Spence by name is an embarrassment to the sport and fans need to call it out and put an end to it. If we don’t, great fights like Mayweather-Pac will not happen in a timely fashion and the sport will suffer

But if fans don't understand WHY the fight isn't happening next, or isn't realistic next, I'm offering some of the reasons why. You don't have to like the reasons or be happy about them. But they are the reasons.

Yes I understand the reasons and you’re obviously well read on them. This particular situation bothers me because of the stark silence that is coming out of everyone regarding Spence from Porter and Thurman’s talk of a “get back” year. I know it is a business and Haymon has a strategic plan but these guys should at least act like fighters.

It's probably better for them to not get fans' hopes up. Thurman knows there is 0% chance of fighting Spence this year. If Thurman and Spence both keep winning, there is a very good chance of them fighting next year. Yes, there is a better way for Thurman to articulate that. He probably wouldn't be getting the same amount of backlash if he said, "I definitely want to fight Spence. I think that fight is very likely to happen next year. This year I need to test out my elbow and then I have a mandatory defense due against Shawn Porter. But after that I'm very focused on Spence"

Yes that’s all I’m asking for. Something along the lines of Spence is in big trouble when I get to him. Have a couple of fights I need to deal with first but I don’t think Spence can last 8 rounds with me....
