So Jones' losses to Tarver and Johnson mean nothing to his legacy?

They do as much to his legacy as losses to Camacho and Norris did to Leonard's, losses to Spinks and Holmes did to Ali's etc etc.

i don't think the ali comparison is just....yes ali lost 3 of his last 4, but the fighters he was fighting were younger ,stronger and faster. he also avenged one of the 3 losses by beating spinks to regain the title...jones was fighting fighters of the same age(johnson) and older(tarver). in the 3rd tarver fight he ran all night long. the losses may not tarnish his "legacy", but his track meet with tarver should. imo that fight showed what kind of heart jones really had(or didn't have. i think jones was exposed in a much earlier fight with a much older fighter in mike mccallum.

Well, before Tarver, Jones could have been mentioned alongside Ali...I nearly did. Still, even though he was past it...due to the weight loss, IMO...the 2nd round kayo drove the nail in the coffin. That's why Johnson kayoed him and why the track meet with Tarver in III.

Ranking Jones is extremely difficult due to the lack of really tough matches on his resume. Until he looked human against Tarver in I, you had to just presume he was that good and that age or something had finally caught up with him.

He would be easier to rank if we'd seen him against Michel$?@&*...however you spell his name, McClellan, or even Benn or Eubank; but neither Benn nor Eubank wanted any part of Jones. What are you gonna do?

However, his accomplishments as they stand present an idea of how he stacks up against the greats; and I honestly feel there's not a man who has ever lived and fougth between 160 and 190 that wouldn't have had trouble with a prime Jones.

I find it really ironic that the only people who are looking to convince other Jones was 'exposed' or had his legacy tarnished so badly have a lot of other funny thoughts about Jones.

Exactly. Tarver beat Roy twice, does that make him a better fighter than Roy? Nope. If Tarver's win over Jones means little, then Jones' wins over Toney and Hopkins should mean just as little.
