Rigo knew he'd lost the FW shot at Loma and the 500k, so he took Bob's offer.

Best to get paid and lose than retire undefeated and gettin 50k for the rest of his career
Gotta get that money while you can...

If he would have taken it in 2015 when Loma was willing to concede the CW of 124, Rigo v Loma is a great fight. Close rounds. With Lomas youth and pressure winning the tight rds, but only clearly winning a few.
      116/112 type fight.

It would have been a fight.
Not the slaughter we watched last winter.

Man, who knows? I would like to believe that, and might’ve said so myself at one time, but after the “performance” Rigo air-mailed, I’m not so sure. Rigondeaux caused a lot of damage that night, mostly to himself.

              "Bad?" Slight understatement.

2 yrs younger vs a lighter, less muscled, less seasoned Loma....

Don't think it would be another Donaire type fight, but it's a GREAT FIGHT...
Even if it's just a chess match.

You may be right. Alas, we’ll never know.

Relax. I didn't say Duran didn't deserve a shot at Leonard's 147lb title in 1980. I was talking about Duran not deserving to fight William Joppy for the WBA 160-lb title in 1998. He continued to have some success for a decade after the infamous Leonard loss, but Duran was joke in the 1990's.
