I think you're overstating how people perceived the fight would go. Nobody knowledgeable thought ggg would mow down Canelo, especially after how jacobs performed vs ggg. And when Canelo said Mexicans don't F around, we thought he meant that ggg was his next fight. Instead it was 3 fights down the line.

Exactly. Lemonhead Jeff is one of those new fight fans. Armchair expert and only started watching Cantyello after he lost every single minute of every round to Floyd. Didn't see him choke against Lara and Trout and only watched the rounds against GGG that he actually hit him which wasn't many. Go easy on the little boy.

How do you see this fight playing out in May?

i think Canelos plan will be to be more active, stay off the ropes & focus on increasing his stamina. ggg will look to be able to cut canelo off better and be more aggressive when Canelo is on the ropes. I know the view is that Canelo is the better boxer so he can adjust more than ggg but, I think there is a better chance of ggg being more aggressive in tracking canelo down than of Canelo greatly improving his stamina. Canelo has always seemed to have a stamina issue so I'm not sure how much that can be improved from Sept to May. I think ggg out works him to a decision.

He didn't at first but its probably because Canelo's hand speed surprised him but once he got more comfortable with it and took his shots, he was less apprehensive. GGG fought smart, he knew to not underestimate Canelo's speed and power.
