I know Sugar Ray Robinson, Cassius Clay, Sugar Ray Leonard, Michael Spinks, Tommy Hearns, Mike McCallum, Don Curry, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr and Oscar De La Hoya were all USA National Golden Gloves champions.
James Toney won Novice Golden Gloves in Manchester and Michigan Silver Gloves. Gerald McClellan won Wisconsin Golden Gloves. Chris Eubank won Spanish Golden Gloves in NY, and got to finals of New York Golden Gloves at MSG. Caveman Lee won Detroit Golden Gloves, as did Duane Thomas. I know Antwun Echols won Iowa Golden Gloves.
Your mistaken aboput James Toney. He never has won a silver golve title and the only senior title that I saw him win was in the diamond Gloves. I actually have a photo of both of us carrying our trophies back together, we were out of the same club. I will look at the paper from the golden gloves that year, but I am almost certain that he never won them. The only time that I saw James fight in the gloves he had moved into the open division and lost in the 1st round of competition.
I will have to find the papers to be sure. Ill let you know.

Ill ask Jackie if she knows anything about James winning the gloves in Manchester. I thought that the Golden Gloves was an american tournament. It has local, regional and national competitions, never heard of world competitions with the gloves. I do remember hearing that James won or placed rather high at a Pal national, but besides that nothing else in the amatuers.Originally posted by JuicyJuiceYour wrong, according to the info I have.
