Ah Redd... Its such a damn crap shoot bringing guys along. When they should jump up, if they should, who they should have guide them. There are certain universals though and one of them has to be, IF a family is involved, at least have a legit trainer who has ultimate authority. The exception to this, like the Fury's and Mayweather family, is when the family is technically minded and able to pass that on to the fighter. Eubank senior was never technically minded as a fighter! Groves actually made a smart remark about the Eubank generations.

Groves said that times had changed in the division and the pure physical ability of the father would not get the job done in today's division. Hopefully the Eubanks see this and adjust.

It was good for Junior that they avoided Triple G. Tough call, because given his defeat to BJ Sanders he definitely was not ready to fight the elites in the division. Although losing a fight to better fighters and learning can sometimes be better than winning to opponents that are not really a challenge.

I think his best prospects are to learn and get good enough to use his strength and win against the likes of Grove and Sanders... That is a challenge for Jr but it is attainable under some possible circumstances. I don't know if he will ever be able to fight beyond the best of the British fighters... even with a great trainer.

Groves wanted to fight from the distance... but Jr. bullied him in Porter's manner -- of course Groves had to clinch...

... I agree that Jr is what he is mainly because of Eubank Sr's...

Also, people are talking about Eubank needing to go back to basics and learn the fundamentals...he's 30 next year, he isn't a young prospect anymore. He needs to learn things that he should have been learning as a teenager.

He will never really compete with top guys in the division. He simply hasn't got the tools to do it. Being athletic will only get you so far. Not saying he's a bad fighter, he's good to a certain level but that level isn't world class.

In my opinion, if he does want a real crack at world level again. he should get away from his team, go with a proper trainer and spend the next 3-4 fights at fringe contender level trying to put what he's learning into practice against guys he can't just rush and bowl over.

Can't imagine him going with another trainer though. He went with Adam Booth and that working relationship lasted about a month.
I repeat what i said above: Jr is what he is mainly because of Eubank Sr's ******ity...

It would be interesting to see what Eubank Jr can do under Abel's training program at Big Bear.

Very well said, imagine how hard it has been to come back from 2 consecutive KO losses, albeit 1 controversial, then the very narrow loss to Jack to finally realising his dream of becoming WBA champion. Adding that little IBO belt to his collection would be sweet too. Cong**** to George a true warrior.

Groves wasn't scared, he was smart. He used Saunders' blueprint to render Eubank's fighting style ineffective. Even when he couldn't clinch, Eubank wasn't doing much, anyways. Not only that, but Groves stunned Eubank multiple times, and even dropped him. Eubank won 4 rounds, tops. Saunders exposed Eubank for being a one-dimensional brawler with no fundamentals, and Groves just reaffirmed it.
