    PBC & Al Haymon Takeover

Been off boxing news etc. for a while but just curious what ever happened the PBC takeover? There was so much hype around this a few years back.

They carried on matching hypejobs against paid losers. Too protective of their investments, they hardly ever put on competetive fights. They have ties to a lot of top fighters but never encourage them to fight eachother.

PBC bought time on several major networks in an attempt to prove that the additional homes would lead to an increase in viewership. Millions watched the events, but pretty quickly, NBC made it clear that they weren't interested in paying for boxing after the time buys were up. PBC canceled the remaining time buys.

FOX showed interest and continues to air periodic fights on their main network, in addition to PBC continuing to control all of the fights on FS1. FOX has not put up major money yet though as they're waiting to see if they're going to lose UFC, and if not, how much they'll have to spend to keep it.

CBS has paid for some major fights, but only once a year. However, they've massively increased the boxing budget on their sister network Showtime, which almost exclusively features PBC events.

Al Haymon continues to accumulate world champions, most of whom fight on PBC cards on Showtime, but he hasn't been able to get an over the air network to put up big money yet. He's got Showtime paying more and buying more events, but for PBC to really achieve its goal, he's got to get FOX to regularly feature major fights, which thus far has not happened.

Last year alone, PBC matched up Badou Jack vs. James Degale in a unification fight.

They matched up Carl Frampton vs. Leo Santa Cruz.

They matched up Keith Thurman vs. Danny Garcia in a unification fight.

They sent Spence overseas to fight top champion Kell Brook in his home town.

They matched Mikey Garcia vs. Adrien Broner, one of the highest rated fights on Showtime last year.

They matched up Charlo and Lubin, two of their top young stars, even though it resulted in Lubin getting destroyed.

These are just a few examples off the top of my head. How many big fights did Golden Boy deliver last year?

How many Haymon fighters were inactive, or fought weak opposition? How many potential superfights haven't happened in several years now? Prime example is how his other top Welterweights are allowed to duck Errol Spence Jr. He has the ingredients to put together a super series at that weight but it ain't gonna happen. Why?
