Unfortunately, those words are true and wise. Spence will get his. But until then, keep the IBF happy (who is the least offensive of the ABC sanctioning bodies, be it faint praise) and do the mandatory so long as the winner here is healthy enough.

Devon Alexander is handy too, provided he still has a pulse enough to win. So even if The "A' list is looking to wait until next year to give Spence his due, he will stay busy racking up KO wins and will be unavoidable in 2019

Yea I'm not trying to hate on Ugas or downplaying his accomplishments at all (or get into a waste of time resume debate). I'm just wanting to see Spence in fights now that I wanna see so I guess I'm being kinda selfish & biased about the situation.

But the reality is I would see more value in Spence's long term trajectory in beating Alexander over Ugas despite those guys both having about the same shot to beat Spence probably & Ugas probably being more deserving of the fight. Its a name brand, asses in seats game & Spence having Alexander's name on his resume increases Spence's value to the masses more than Ugas' name will.

And more directly on this Ugas vs Robinson fight these fights with two guys I don't think many would have as legit top ten guys fighting for a title shot is one of my pet peeves admittedly. At least throw one legit top ten guy in these mandatory fights so we got a legit top ten mandatory or a guy who is fresh off of a top ten guy W getting the shot. The IBF has become notorious for these bs mandatory fights.

both these guys aren't very good and aren't on anybody top welterweight rankings. How the phuk did either guy get a title eliminator shot. SMH at IBF trash rankings and mandatory. A complete waste of Spence's time.

Spence vs Ugas or Ocampo might be the only type of fights that keep Spence active. It's not great but it beats being shelved.

Why couldn't he fight the Alexander vs Ortiz winner or Danny Garcia (if Danny wanted it which I'd bet he doesn't) in May or June.

But yea if Spence doesn't fight 3 times this year he needs to find a promoter...or he should just find a promoter either way or do his own promotion via someone else if he feels that'll work cuz I keep hearing people say he wants/plans to do his own promotion.

Yea Vargas is a bigger name too. I'd throw him in there as a guy to fight this year over the Ugas vs Robinson winner.

It'd be the better fight. Belts come with mandos that aren't always too great though. Just the way it goes.

LOL sadly it is. Being a boxing fan can be frustrating too often. I just wanna enjoy all these great fights that can be made, but are never made as frequently as they should be + the landscape/structure of boxing makes no sense 24/7/365.

I think Garcia will fight Spence late this year. Probably Ocampo in June. Not every fight is gonna be good one.

Spence will fight 3 times this year, but that is still bs. It is only three times because he fought in January. January, June, and December. That's still just once every six months really. The problem is Spence should be fighting Ocampo in April, Alexander-Ortiz winner in August and Garcia in December. Then he could fight Ugas next year.

I did see a video where Spence did said he plans on starting his own promotion. Makes sense. Either way Spence should be way more active. There's nothing wrong with fighting guys like Ocampo and the Robinson-Ugas winner. The problem is waiting six months from one fight to the next to do it.
