Khan was in the top 15 the yr before he fought garcia. Not sure if he dropped after losing to Peterson but considering the controversy, he probably didn't drop much. Mathysse may have been ranked in some top 20 p4p lists (if not, just outside of it) after knocking out Peterson. Better question, what top p4p fighter did he avoid at 140? You can only fight who's available in your weight class. He's been at 147 for a little over 2 yrs and faced 1 guy that was considered to on 10 p4p. I'm not saying he can't be criticized for certain opponent choices in between bug fights, but if that's the case, then so can Canelo.

OK, let's look at this subjectively. Aside from your boy Canelo, who Danny's age or younger had faced better competition? Now keep in mind that he was the underdog in the 1st morales fight, vs khan, vs mathysse and vs Thurman. He win 3 of 4 in those fights. He's also had a couple of light work opponents like salka and vargas but also faced credible opponents in herrera, Judah and Peterson. Is that terribly different from Canelo facing guys like angulo, Kirkland, khan and Smith in between bigger fights like lara, cotto and ggg??

Garcia was a -350 favorite in the first fight with Morales.
