Not to say they never faced any legit threats at all but for the most part, they chose to take cakewalk fights for exorbitant fees.
There's literally nobody with a better resume than Thurman at 147lbs. Garcia also fought basically everyone at 140lbs before moving up... after his move up his opposition has been a bit lacking, but it's not like he didn't clean up 140lbs.

So I don't get how you could see how their careers would unfold.

Rios is ranked as the 27th best welterweight in the world by boxrec. If that ranking is accurate there are at least 20 welterweights Garcia could have fought that would be more of a challenge. What is beating the 27th best welterweight supposed to prove? Beating a top 10 welterweight would be a meaningful win for Garcia but Rios is in nobody's top 10 welterweights.

No one expects this to be competitive but it should be entertaining. He is right that Rios is perfect for him but I don't know what it does for his career or his legacy.

Perfect tune-up fight. Great to see Danny back. He'll clean out the division if he focuses and and gets a proper trainer who says the right thing instead of a raving lunatic.

OK, let's look at this subjectively. Aside from your boy Canelo, who Danny's age or younger had faced better competition? Now keep in mind that he was the underdog in the 1st morales fight, vs khan, vs mathysse and vs Thurman. He win 3 of 4 in those fights. He's also had a couple of light work opponents like salka and vargas but also faced credible opponents in herrera, Judah and Peterson. Is that terribly different from Canelo facing guys like angulo, Kirkland, khan and Smith in between bigger fights like lara, cotto and ggg??

Not quite as perfect as Salka.

Has Danny beaten any top 20 P4P guys?? And you forgot about Trout. Who was unbeaten at the time.
