back in the day, it seemed like every contender could fight off the back foot..... boxers in general seemed to be more well-rounded

and back in the day..... fans also seemed to be much more well-rounded than the bunch we have today

scoring for the guy going forward is the opposite of the very ethos of boxing..... the great John L Sullivan admitted as much when Corbett whipped his ass more than a hundred years ago..... it is a truly ******ed notion that was originally initiated by TV networks to encourage more "fan-friendly" fights (rock-em-sock-em robot brawling)..... it was specifically designed to discourage/eliminate the style "boxer"

I’ve been a hardcore boxing fan for over two decades. And I can say with zero hesitation that the boxing IQ of so called hardcore fight fans today seems to be several points below what it was as recently as 10-15yrs ago.

the talk about Canelo not being a true Mexican..... and the accusations being directed at him for " running "..... are truly glorious


what I saw is..... the " chicken " out-thought and out-boxed a supposed killer

you can insist that Golovkin won, no problem..... but a lot of observations about that fight are utter bollocks

Anyone who throws around that 'chicken' or 'running' talk is a moron, there is a difference to running and smart lateral movement. Anyway, interesting point you make which I noticed is when GGG seemingly had Canelo on the ropes and wouldn't pull the trigger. I know there would have been concerns about Canelo's counterpunching ability but did we see GGG's first signs of not being able to pull the trigger? I dunno I had GGG winning by a round but lean towards Canelo in the rematch. GGG at 36 just ain't what he used to be you can't fight science.

I think I've watched that fight a couple of times and I remember the 1st 3-4 rounds were clearly for Canelo then from the 5th round till the end, Canelo ran out of gas for good and GGG as usual was like the bunny with endless battery charge. But even so, I think 2-3 rounds were close, because Canelo somehow had the stamina to make combinations for about a minute or so, in flurries of 6-8 punches non-stop, connecting at least half of them, which could have granted him those rounds, so I think a draw was in order. What was pathetic and depressing was that sold-out judge who gave the fight to Canelo 10-2 or something like that and that's the reason why Canelo got booed. I think he did enough for a draw but not for a win. But saying it wasn't close, on either side, is just plain lying. It was really close, because GGG missed too much and Canelo backed down too much due to lack of stamina, so none of the two really deserved to win.

Canelo hit Golovkin flush with an overhand right, his best punch, and Golovkin ate it and kept walking forward. I don't see where all the KO talk is coming from. If he can't knock him with his best shot, then how's he going to do it in the rematch?

Your almost right. Canelo came on real strong in the 10, 11th, and 12th. The 11th or 10th was like his best round. That why most ppl say Canelo took majority of the early and late rounds whil GGG dominated the middle ones whils Canelo rested...

I have no beef with any 7-5 scorecardsbthat went either way. 7-5 ggg was my score and would favor a draw like you over 7-5 Canelo. This is how comfortable I feel about the score.

7-5 60% GGG
6-6 30%
7-5 Canelo 10%

Outside of that I start doubting their cards.once they get to 9,10 or more I call BS and they need to NEVER score fights again.

You dont have to always knock-out the other fighter to win. You just have to win 7 rounds by 2 judges...
