When I first read it it had no link.
And I knew it can't be possible.
A PBC fighter taking Vargas for a tuneup fight.
      No effing way.
I doubt any of them would take Vargas at the drop of a hat.
Man I was SHOCKED when I 1st heard it!!! Long layoff + major injury??? I was gonna bet BIG on Vargas. Im actually pissed now at Thurman.

They were in negotiations for months. Vargas kept demanding more than Brook and wouldn't budge even though Brook was the draw. Funny that Vargas being a greedy **** and dragging the negotiations out is what cost him the pay day. Fight would have been signed and confirmed and Brook wouldn't have been able to fight Golovkin.

So basically Thurman is marinating EVERYONE.

I hadn't realized that the dude hadn't fought in nearly two years now. It doesn't matter who he gets in the ring with at this point, they're going to make him look vulnerable, so he might as well stop letting fights marinate and just take someone in the Top 10 and be done with it. Frankly, I don't know why he didn't call out Horn before the Crawford fight was made - I think Thurman wins that easily.

Yes I know - Bob Arum / Al Haymon.

They BOTH agreed Vargas was going to get $1.75 mill which isnt that bad considering HE was coming to the UK. And he was a huge step up from the usual tomato cans Brook was fighting at the time.

Vargas was going to get over £2 mil and Brook was going to get much less. Confirmed by Hearn at the time. It took them months to agree because Vargas was being unreasonable, in the end Brook was willing to take the short money to unify, until he had a better offer. Vargas own greed cost him the fight.

He never kept changing the price. It stayed the same. Brook is the one wanted to change the price and terms. And then he got his eye smashed for it. Now hes damaged goods...

The lesser draw was demanding more money than the bigger draw. That's just flat out bull**** and i'm glad he didn't get the fight. Fighters demanding more than they're worth isn't good for boxing, if every fighter did that nobody would ever fight.

What's this got to do with Brook?
                    Vargas/Thurman was never negotiated.
It was a ****** rumor, end of story.
BTW, Brook demanded more money, not Vargas.

Thurman knows that Vargas is not a "tune-up." He was talking ****, but he's back to reality now, and I really didn't like what he was saying:

                      February 6, 2018:

Because of the long layoff and the elbow surgery, Thurman is being very cautious with his next fight.

First thing is first, We just want to make sure that we're back completely. I might not even fight anybody in the top ten in my comeback fight. We'll have to see what we negotiate, but outside of that, the second fight should not really be against the number 2 guy. I can go after someone from the top seven up, the top five up, but shouldn't be the number two guy," Thurman told Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.

WBA, WBC welterweight champion Keith Thurman is really looking to take it easy for his planning comeback fight. Thurman (28-0, 22 KOs) is scheduled to return to the ring against an unnamed opponent on May 19th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. His last fight also took place at Barclays, when he won a twelve round split decision over Danny Garcia to unify their welterweight belts in March of 2017.

I'm cool with the comeback fight, but 2nd fight won't be the number 2 guy? Basically, that eliminates Porter and DSG!
