    There have always been fat heavyweights, ali opponent buster mathi's **** nearly slapped himself in the face when he punched at the right angle



    We just don't hang posters of fat guys on our wall 50 yrs later so it seems new

          Yes there were always fat heavyweights, but they were a small minority, like Mathis and Galento. Now it seems it's almost the norm.

          Look at more recent era's 90's, 80's etc there were not many fat heavyweights. It's also become more extreme. Buster Douglas and Ray Mercer were out of shape for their time but compared to Solis, Arreola, Ruiz Jr, even Fury at his heaviest they were svelte in comparison.
