    Boxing triangles

So which stylistical boxing triangles can you think of?
Ones that happened and theoretical ones?

As for ones which happened... Hopkins' defensive style and speed-decreasing old age made Dawson's speed and reach too difficult too handle. On the other hand, Pascal's aggressive pressure style took the adventage of Dawson's speed and reach away - Pascal applied too much pressure for Dawson to handle, which Hopkins was unable to do. Hopkins beat Pascal, though, as Hopkins has the defensive skills to handle Pascal's aggressive but simple pressure style.

As for theoretical ones... I except Mike Tyson to beat prime Muhammad Ali, as Tyson is basically a better Frazier in every way and Frazier caused Ali all kinds of trouble. Tyson would lose to Foreman, though. His style is perfect for Foreman and he would get knocked out like Frazier was, but after having put up a better fight. A prime Ali would be too smart and fast for Foreman, even without the heat and rope-a-dope technique that playedinto old Ali's victory, and he would win by clear decision.

A prime Ali toys with Tyson, Ali was already past his prime in all 3 fights with Frazier, the Ali that fought, Liston or Cleveland Williams beats Tyson easily. Too much skill and too much will!

          Hopkins > Pavlik > Taylor > Hopkins

Very much the same reasons as the Hopkins Dawson Pascal triangle. Hopkins' craftiness could be beaten by a guy with quick reflexes, but both Dawson and Taylor were susceptible to pressure and guys with a bit of power.

Tyson and Frazier are nothing alike other than the fact they are aggressive.

Fraizer is a great inside fighter, Tyson isn't.

Frazier is a 15 round fighter with a massive engine, Tyson is fast and explosive and fades.

The very first one I thought of Duran, Hagler Leonard.
There a quadrangle also. Hearns, Leonard, Duran and Benitez. In the past good fighters actually fought each other. LOL...

judging by the Tyson vs James "QUICK" Tillis fight in 1986.. a prime Ali would beat the absolute dog sht out of Tyson.

Yep, the four kings era will always be the best era in boxing IMO, the best fighting the best from 135-160. No ducking, no catchweight BS. (apart from SRL-Lallonde) just the best fighter’s wanting to prove they’re the best via fighting the best.

I should’ve included Benitez. He’s kind of the forgotten man of that elite era, he’s more famous for losing to SRL and Hearns more than he is for beating elite fighters like Duran. Also the fact that he beat Cervantes to win the WBA 140lb title at 17 years old is an incredible achievement. He should be appreciated more. He’s a top 3 Puerto Rican fighters of all time IMO.

Mayweather's length and counter punching style was too much for Marquez (who also likes to counter), but Pac's aggressive and offensive style matched up perfectly with JMM and made for 3 close fights and the eventual KO.
