Maybe you are right. That was the issue with Mike Tyson also.

Stiverne was an undefeated KO artist before Wilder disposed of him and he hits harder than ANY cruiser including Gassiev.

Wilder CHOSE Ortiz over Whyte because he is a far bigger threat. Whyte is an easy pay day, he got rocked badly by Helenius (the guy Duhapaus beat). Pedvetkin also got rocked his last fight by Christian Hammer, last 2 opponents went 24 rounds. NO chance.
Stiverne wasn't undefeated when he fought Wilder. He had been stopped on two rounds by a journeyman.

It wasn't a legitimate stoppage, Stiverne didn't even get knocked down, the ref jumped in waaaay to early like the joke stoppages you see in the UK. Even the crowd booed that's how bad it was.

It was indeed an early stoppage. But that is in no way a top five heavy being teed off on in that clip.

Of course not that was back in 2007, Stiverne was pro only a year or two. He wasn't even top 50 at the time.

Stiverne was a top 5 HW when Wilder fought him 7 years later.

Stiverne's best wins were over a shot Chris Arreola. He didn't deserve his high ranking with the WBC.

Arreola was 9-0 since losing a close bout to Adamek where he injured his hand and was around 12lbs lighter than when he fought Vitali-Adamek. Arreola was far from a shot fighter, Stiverne just made him look shot. Stiverne also had a win over Austin as well.

Adamek himself could barely get by an injured Arreola but would arguably beat any cruiser today.

I think he flattered to deceive. He's win over Arreola is in retrospect, a win over a man who never achieved anything. He lost to a lightheavyweight and was shut out by an old man. Stiverne was the title holder, but outside of that, does anyone think he was up there with Wlad, Fury, Haye, Povetkin, Pulev ect? The overweight version Deontay crushed in a round is clearly not top ten. As I pointed out originally, to say he was an undefeated knockout artist when Wilder first fought him is, whatever way you look at it, inaccurate.

Poor Tony! I bet Gassiev would beat the s##t out of him. One way fight, with early KO and Bellew hurt badly, imo...
