If Roy Jones was a Welter weight he would stop Mayweather . Jones started at 160 and won a heavyweight

i couldn't find a more fitting meme. not attacking floyd fans. but this meme perfectly illustrates how ALL boxing fans treat compubox.
if it supports your narrative = compubox is gospel
if it doesn't support your narrative= compubox is trash.
its that simple. ALL boxing fans are guilty of it. period.
compubox is two guys ringside pushing buttons. it was created specifically to enhance the telecast/engage the viewers at home. and its a barometer of activity. it cannot be used to determine winner or who was better. that is a FACT. but like i said if it supports your agenda then you love the numbers.Comment

I used to think it was a great resource, and it does an amazing job of listing all the past and present boxers but the rankings are offComment

I would wish to my son a career like Calzaghe ending undefeated instead of a career like DURAN because he fought so many wars with so many greats took beatings multiple times, get KFTO.
Does that mean Calzaghe is greater than Duran, better P4P?
Easy pick as you said.Comment

that is a HUGE call
it is a huge call to suggest that Jones would definitely beat Mayweather in a head-to-head contest, if all things were equal
Jones had freakish athleticism, great skills, great confidence, great instincts..... but Mayweather had close to perfect textbook technique, unbelievable ringIQ/confidence, and an uncanny ability to adjust to the guy in front of him
I definitely agree that it would take someone like Jones to beat Floyd..... but, would he actually beat Floyd, if all things were equal?
no idea, that is one for the fantasy match-up board
a huge call, like most fantasy match-ups
it would most likely be a stinker, with Jones forcing the action, Mayweather fighting defensively, and Floyd winning a razor-close decision by controlling the distance and disrupting Jones' timing..... the reason why, because Mayweather would find it difficult to hurt/deter Roy, but his control of distance and timing would keep him in that fight..... so Roy would push the action especially down the stretch, possibly being overly-aggressive out of frustration and a sense that he needs to do something to stop the fight slipping away..... giving Mayweather opportunities to disrupt/counter his way to a uninspiring win..... beating a guy by limiting/eliminating his success, despite the fact that the guy may have stopped him had he fought a different style..... like he did with Cotto/Maidana/McGregor
If Floyd fought Jones like he fought those guys, then Jones wins
but I see just as much chance of Floyd stinking out a razor-close decision, than I do Roy catching him with the miraculous punch that nobody else could land.....
also, Floyd has a great chin, so not sure that one shot would win the fight for Roy
NOT saying that Jones would only have a punchers chance, not at all..... just that it is incredibly difficult to outwork Mayweather over 12 once he has worked you out..... or should I say, once he has worked out what you need to do in order to be successful
wouldn't bet a dollar on that fight, even on Mayweather..... who has been close to a "sure-thing" against anybody else he fought, including Pac..... who was supposed to be the man who could outwork Mayweather, with his speed, and with the 1200+ punches he threw against Clottey
the point is, even if Mayweather did sneak past Jones, Jones was good enough to trouble other world-class fighters just as much as Mayweather, if not more..... and I know who's fights will get the most youtube hitsComment

Roy was definitely more exciting in his prime, but for me Floyd was a better all round fighter, and that makes him the better fighter. Even in Roy's prime, his defence wasn't great, but he was so fast he could get away with it. I've noticed loads of times when he just goes to the ropes and covers up with a high guard - that's not the defence of the best of all time. I like Roy, but Floyd was a way more intelligent fighter.Comment

Roy woulda never struggled with anyone in his prime period. While Floyd arguably lost to Jose Luis Castillo
Prime Roy barely lost a round against anyoneComment
