Comments Thread For: Fuentes Asks WBC To Review Knockout Loss To Daigo Higa

Former world champion Moises Fuentes arrived at THE WBC "Tuesday Coffee Conference" in a stirred up mood, as he requested a thorough review of his first round loss to WBC flyweight champion, Daigo Higa. Higa successfully defended his title by knocking out the Mexican veteran in the first.

Stoppage was a bit quick. No chance to get it overturned. Fuentes bucking for a remat

Though the stoppage may have been a bit quick, Fuentes was hurt. We have all seen this dog-and-pony show of protests after first round TKO's a thousand times. It never gets overturned. The only path to a no contest is a failed drug test. Fuentes is just hoping to stir the pot enough to hope for a rematch, which would probably end in him getting KO'd or TKO'd in three or four rounds. We've seen that show a thousand times too.

If I remember correctly , he spit out his mouthpiece and got up at the count of 9.

Ref was correct. Fight was over; he shouldn't get more time to put back his mouthpiece. Stall tactics for him to recover.

      The end.

Fuentes didn't have Joe Goossen telling him "you better ****ing get inside off him now!" after he spat the mouthpiece, otherwise he would have kayoed Higa for sure

About the 2:50 Mark for those that haven't seen it. Make your own mind up. Probably Fuetes was able to continue, although, obviously hurt, but by spitting out his mouthoiece and therefore not being ready he made it difficult to dispute the refs decision.

Fuentes was up at 9 but he was badly hurt. Ref made the right decision to waive off the fight I think.
