Guy is 1-1. What is he expecting? 5k/5K?
Plenty of combat sports guys take short money to get experience. Plenty of cats with bad records take any money just to be getting paid. This sport probably just not for him at this level. He should stick to random grappling tournaments & white collar type stuff maybe if he just wants to pursue MMA as a hobby over a career.
Not saying he might not ultimately be worth more, but there is some proving yourself in this game & in many other fields where a light wallet is just part of everyone's come up story til they make a name for themselves/get a rep.Comment

Go ask Pride & Affliction how paying guys "what they are worth" (allegedly) worked out for them.
No one is getting rich or poor off of giving this cat a $250/$250 deal. But they got a budget & while this could be a pay drop from a previous fight & that might make me feel weird myself if I was in his position he might look at it like getting put into a situation where the ceiling is higher & this is an amazing opportunity for him long term vs this "Pay Me Now" bs.
When you are 1-1 in low level MMA leagues in a 4 year career you gotta take what you can get & this was a great opportunity to be a part of the 2nd biggest MMA league. Some guys are making more money in Bellator then they were making in the UFC. This is a cat who just doesn't want it bad enough to pay some dues like so many cats before him were willing to do.Comment

Opportunity is still opportunity; again, this is knowing absolutely nothing about the fighter in question. If he fights well, a second and better opportunity likely comes with itComment

When I say "pay what they're worth" I'm more or less siding with you but to be only guaranteed 250$ is terrible you're pretty much losing money. On top of that he has to sell a certain amount of tickets to fightGo ask Pride & Affliction how paying guys "what they are worth" (allegedly) worked out for them.

Ancajas is now almost in 6-figure territory. He got $95,000 in his latest fight against that Mexican boy Gonzalez.Comment

Was ticket selling in that contract to? How many tickets he need to sell to fight? I legit didn't notice that, but wasn't trying to read it either. But I'm surprised something like that was in a Bellator deal. Thats clubshow/low level MMA league sh^t usually. And honestly that seems weirder than the show/win money to me.
But I mean I do get the lose money thing, but one is to assume he's been losing money training MMA & not fighting at all. So this was more about the opportunity than the purse in my eyes. And I think most guys who'll succeed in combat sports would be thinking of the opportunity to be in Bellator vs the $250/$250 deal. I mean he's not the first guy to get a $250/$250 deal. I believe I've seen cats get a $100/$100 deal in Bellator's past. And cats are FOR SURE getting that money in the minor MMA leagues.Comment
