Im not really a Jeff Horn fan but if you cant see he is a top 10 welterweight theres something wrong with you. Hes huge, has good power, very akward and in and out and side to side movement. He was tagging Manny with some hard shots. I was watching his fights before he fight Manny and I knew this guy had some real talent. Horn has taken hard fights his whole career. His last 13 opponents had a combined record of 362- 39 when he fought them. Beat Randall Bailey and Ali Funeka. Ranked number 6 by the ring and 2 by boxrec, not saying hes on Crawford or Spences level but definitely above the Vargas and the Petersons of the division. I would pick Horn to beat Danny Garcia and maybe even Shawn Porter

Also how can you say Manny is a Gatekeeper? One loss/robbery doesn't mean hes shot. He threw over 600 punches against Horn and most ppl think he won.

If you accept that Jeff "The Hornet" Horn took Manny to school - and you accept that such a thing shouldn't have happened and wouldn't have even 4 years ago - coupled with him being on Horn's undercard, unable to stop Chris Algieri...yeah, he's a gatekeeper. You know why? Because of this:

Pacquiao is B-siding/undercarding a fight headlined by the guy that beat him - a guy nobody hardly knew just two years ago. All because he ran when the guy that beat him called him out for a rematch to disprove the silly theory that he was somehow "robbed" - when in reality he got bullied over 7 rounds.

Horn knew what he was doing. He knew Manny didn't have the heart to take him out. No longer hungry.

Lmao.....crawford is the only fighter on this card thats not an espn level fighter.

Crawford is one of the best fighters right now but his PPV fight with Postol generated just around 50,000 buys, not even 1/4 of the lowest Pacquiao PPV against Vargas which generated about 215,000 buys.

There is no marquee matchup, even casual fans get that Pacquiao is way past it, Crawford is a terrific fighter, but he hasn't become a big national draw yet. I think this is a bad move.

The price of the PPV will have a big impact on buys. For $10-20, I think they'll do 250,000 buys. If they go for a $50-60 range, they'll be lucky to break 50,000 buys.

ESPN isn't risking their money on this PPV, in all likelihood; Bob Arum is staking the money, renting the ESPN team for the fight (Tessitore/Kriegel/Bradley), and hoping beyond hope that Pacquiao-Alvarado/Horn-Crawford draws well enough to get ESPN to put up the PPV money for the hoped for Crawford-Pacquiao fight.

I don't think the event is anywhere near that price sensitive as you want to think (most folks who buy PPV host a party anyway; food/drinks/etc and you're basically looking at spending $150 on a fight party or $200 on a fight party).

I doubt the event tops 100k homes, especially if Mike Alvarado is Pacquiao's opponent.

I doubt Alvarado is the opponent. But even a Matthysse isn’t worth of being a PPV headliner. What was the point of the ESPN deal if these are the kinds of fights we’re getting?

Arum no longer had the HBO pot to himself, and ESPN, for short money, gave Arum a place to stay.

ESPN gets boxing content on the cheap, Top Rank gets a place to try and develop their fighters, and Top Rank is left holding the bag to pay for fights that can't be made without PPV.
