Canelo's work rate was in line with most of his other fights.

Canelo landed the cleaner, better punches. GGG landed more volume. Canelo's defence was on point, so was GGG's (overlooked by most).

    It was a close fight.

Canelo has to win a few more of the early rounds I fell he let slip to prove a point to GGG, if he wins more of the early rounds and closes well like he did he probably wins the fight.

Golovkin HAS to sell out. Like Hagler did with Hearns. **** the science, go in there and rumble, you know the guy can't last at the same pace, yes you may get knocked out yourself, but to truly be a legend and put a stamp on his career he has to sell out and go for Canelo. One of them will drown and I would bet it would be Canelo.
you call me ****** and then you say golovkin has to 'sell out' to win? Really? So he cant just win more rounds like he did in the first fight? Theres always this nonsese that unless the power puncher wins by ko hes a failure, but the 'boxer' is allowed to do what they want. its complete horse****, all he should have to do is repeat what he did in the first fight and get the decision by competent judges that can see the fight how everyone else saw it.

I didn't say he has to do that to win though did I? I said he needs a stamp on his career. Since he's stepped up all the fights have been close and competitive. He was known as a killer, I think this works against him in the long run or how his greatness is perceived.

He's had a sighter in the first fight, now go show everyone that you are great! Most of the great fighters have one great performance a destructive or dominant performance at top level. GGG has an opportunity to do that on a massive stage. Sometimes you have to seize the moment, that's what Hagler did with Hearns, and Hopkins did with Trinidad/De la Hoya. So many examples.

Canelo ran just like Billy Ho Saunders did against LeMule, he became a runner that night unfortunately (although I suspect it was because it was Canelo's first official fight at middleweight) and I can't support a fighter who runs.

Honestly, they both showed too much respect for one another. It be best for boxing that they both go all out and throw more punches in the rematch.

That's what happens when ability is close, they null and void each other it happens all the time in boxing.

Canelo does meet to throw more punches in the rematch, there's no doubt about that, but GGG needs to be more accurate. I thought GGG won the fight in the end but he was quite poor on the night. He's at his best when he fights every 4-5 months.

Neither guy looked very good. ggg needs to apply even more pressure and sustain a near constant attack, or somehow become more accurate...Canelo needs to do pretty well the same thing while taking a bit more risk and increase his output. Given that ggg is clearly past his prime, and sudden improvement is unlikely, and Canelo now knows how it feels to be on there with ggg...I feel it's far more likely Canelo makes the adjustments he needs as opposed to the opposite.

If you want the Gods honest truth, both are average, neither are ATG level fighters period.. GGG looked like ass and Canelo boxed in spurts

The guy didnt land punches. How can it be a good performance if you didnt land punches? you lot are such boxing experts but you dont think landing punches is important, man i bow down to the superior pugilists of this forum.
Someone let teddy atlas out of the asylum and suddenly hes gonna go from losing 10 rounds on his scorecard to putting on a clinic in the rematch. Its just that simple, he gotta throw more punches
Fighters dont deliberately have a low work rate, he didnt throw shots cause he'd get smashed back if he opened up. He didnt open up against floyd cause he was getting countered every time. its funny how he doesnt open up against these guys but happy to fire at will against chavez jr.
Whenever a power puncher goes the distance and doesnt score the knockout people automatically side with the other guy. See it time and time again on here (see jacobs moral victory)
Canelo will look like dogh**** again in the rematch but that disgusting ****** oscar will rig the cards again.

My own feeling is that there were two Gingers that night! One... a young man who still gases relatively early when having to throw leather, and looked unsteady at times, in run mode...

the other... Beautiful timing, great angling and upper boy movement, including his circle pivoting, and ditto for some well placed counter punching.

I think Canelo showed a few flashes of needing to move past one gear but more often than that he showed flashes of brilliance in his timing and poise against GG.

personally I would rather see a young guy who is inconsistant, than mediocre but succesful. Canello could be said to have set a high bar for himself that night, and that may well propel him. I hope it does.

Golavkin has a more pronounced road to hoe: He has to show that he can find a way to impose himself in this rematch and really take Canello out of his comfort zone. It should be a good fight.

Dude they are not average. That is overstating, why can't we just get some balance in here for once.

Canelo is an A- fighter with holes in his game.

GGG is a B+ fighter with A level power and stamina.

That is a general explanation, but about the gist of it. They are both unable to put up dominant performances at elite level because of their flaws, but not many fighters can put in dominant performances at that level. They certainly aren't average though.
