Why would a jab and right hand not work with Usyk?1st off a st8 right is best punch for southpaw at least with many trainers. And you can outjab a southpaw its all about being 1st.He also fights taller with longer reach then Gass.Im not saying he is a southpaw killer at all just that his style might work better then Gass with Usyk.He is faster also and Gass was not backing up more then ever before because Dorticos cant punch.I think Usyk beats both at moment but Dorticos could pose more probs.

Lol, well i wish them guys nothing but the best anddivision I will surely root for all of them 3 becaudese I love the shorter, compact fighters, but I kinda agree with you. I mean I see Usyk and Gassiev being successful, Usyk because of his footwork, quickness and technique, and Gassiev because of his agressiveness, power and strenght (but at the same time would be hughly undersized, so may need to add the headmovement), but Briedis would probably have less success because we saw he was already smaller than Usyk, so imagine him against Joshua, Wilder or in-shape-Fury. He would be handicapped against the Heavyweights by the lack of size coupled with his non agressive style (because in muy mind most of the smaller guys have to be agressive in order to have some success.

Secondly it would suck for the Cruiserweight division because it's currently the best division in the sport, followed by Lightheavy.
Could not agree more destroys a great div and adds not much to heavy.Gass power and strength will go from pluses to minuses. The body shot will still be there.Bredis who I rate pretty close to Gass don't have the style to fight much bigger harder hitting guys either.Usyk I could see bothering some beating maybe some at bottom of top ten if style is right. But don't see him beating Joshua,Wilder,Ortiz or some of the new talent coming up.

Yeah it's true that straight right and left hook are the best weapon against southpaws, but here I meant specificaly of Dorticos' 1-2 because he doesn't set it up and did literally that same combo all night. Plus he's very inaccurate. I may be wrong, I'm not saying I'm right, but I can't never see Usyk getting cought by Dorticos' 1-2. Now would I like to see them fighting each other? Sure, why not, it would be a funny fight.

          Sorry for the typos

Yeah, he has limited amateur experience, but he was the best boxer today against a cuban, so that doesn't mean much. Being square didn't seem to be a problem today against a 1-2 puncher, the best type to explore it, so southpaw, the worse to explore it (look at young Pacquiao, squared but hard to hit in the body) isn't doing any better. About head movement, didn't you see the 1st KD? He don't move the head a lot because he has a hell of a high guard (the best defense against southpaws), but when he moves he throw an accurate counter right away. And last, Dorticos punch keep him out of danger early on, Usyk don't have this kind of power, so no breathing space in any moment

            • Finals will be wild. Russia vs Ukraine / eastern euros are running CW division.

              May the best man win.

              Briedis should fight Dorticos!!!!

Because his right is always set up by the jab and it's known that the orthodox jab is the punch that suffers the most in this type of fight. Sure, you can outjab a southpaw, but only if you have the better lead hook too, what isn't the case. If you don't have it your jabs will be only a way for the other guy to point out. The way it is, the guy with better chances to outjab Usyk is Gassiev
