I like Spence a lot, but it's not fair to compare him to proven legends just yet. He's building a name for himself now.

We know how great Pac was at his peak. Spence looks amazing at the moment, but he's young and barely reaching his prime now.

The problem with these fantasy matchups is that you can only base it on the body of work for each fighter.

Who was Pacquiao's best win at the full welterweight limit of 147 or higher.

My guess is Tim Bradley? Maybe some would say Margarito post hand wraps...?

I think Spence beats both rather easily.

But like mentioned above, Spence is young and just coming into his prime.

        VS

        2008 version of Manny Pacquiao

How do you think the fight goes?

        .
****** thread title dude. You've put "who's better?" One guy has gone through numerous weight divisions winning a bucket load of championships, and beating several HOFers. The other has won a single title.

But then on the poll it's probably worded the right way because you have put who wins at welterweight. I think at this stage the smart bet is still Pacquiao because of the pedigree and level of competition, we need to see Spence in with better competition consistently. I don't think a 2008-10 Pacquiao would have had too many problems with current Peterson or current Brook.

Dont get me wrong about Spence he is formidable, he has a 154 frame and is currently able to healthily squeeze down to 147 so that along with his skill set and ring smarts puts him in a great position to beat all of the current welterweights.

Let's see how he progresses, this may or may not be a much better question in a year or two.

I meant who's better at boxing skill wise obviously, not who has the better resume. Stop being a vagina.

Pac was a different animal back then who through punches in bunches and was ultra aggressive. Spence has the size advantage for sure but that version of Pac would probably give him problems. Hard to pick a clear winner.

Why do you people keep on parroting this myth? Pacquiao wasn't walking through any of Margo, Cotto, Mosley's shots, even back then in the featherweights, he was using upperbody movement to make them miss, he uses catch and block defense with his upper body movement, he doesn't TAKE punches that much.

                  Look at this pact@rd.

                  1. "Punches in bunches" doesn't mean "walking through punches", the guy you quoted was referring to Manny's high work rate.

Yet you took the opportunity to go on your agenda driven rant about bullshlt. ****** pact@rds can't read and comprehend.

                  2. I'll help you out so you can rant more effectively.........

Manny couldn't take punches as a FLYWEIGHT.....who moves up 7 divisions and blocks straights with his face. Especially vs MARGS and COTTO. Manny was hit clean numerous times and didn't even blink. My guess has to do with why he refused OST in 2009.

(Not surprisingly, he was caught trying to use TORADOL vs Floyd. )

                  Ok......now go on your rant.

Spence isn't the king at WW. He's had 1 title defense and has only 2 notable names on his resume... 3 if you love Algieri.

Spence has a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG way to go before he should be mentioned in the same breath as Manny Pacquiao.

Manny hasn't stopped one person at 147 so I don't see him stopping Spence. If Spence shells up like Clottey then Pacquiao cruises to an easy decision. I honestly don't see see that happening so it would be good give and take and battle of attrition. Spence would get hit a lot but so would Pacquiao. We haven't seen Spence wilt yet so I would expect him to give a good account of himself. If Manny can take the body shots then he would probably get the decision. However, remember when Margarito landed a few body shots late in their fight Manny started looking to the ref to stop it. I'm sure his fans still believe it was to save Margarito...
