Comments Thread For: Miguel Berchelt vs. Maxwell Awuku Now Set - Magali is Out

African fighter Maxwell Awuku is now the new challenger for WBC super featherweight champion Miguel "El Alacran" Berchelt on Saturday night, February 10 at the Oasis Arena in Cancun. The event will be promoted by Zanfer Promotions and Max Boxing in partnership with Cancun Boxing that Azteca 7 will televise. It was difficult to get an opponent for the monarch. After the surprise cancellation of Cristian Mijares, several level options were sought and finally a deal had been achieved with the Filipino Carlo Magali, but at the time of requesting his departure before the boxing commission of his country - he was denied authorization for not fulfilling a required rest period between fights, despite the fact that the bureaucracy of the WBC had already approved the contest.

WTH. How do people get away with fighting guys who aren't even ranked in the top 15 of their own sanctioning bodies rankings. I get that after all that time away he doesn't want to fight Vasily Lomachenko right away but the guys he was choosing from were pathetic.

I'm sure HBO will shell out some cash for Berchelt to beat up on bum ass Roman. Berchelt can get a tune up in the mean time.

Awuku is not a push over. He will give Belchelt a good fight.
