The world champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Murat Gassiev, sees no reason to conduct a rematch with Denis Lebedev, who holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) title.
Last December, Gassiev won a twelve round decision over Lebedev to capture the IBF title. A few weeks before the contest, the bout agreement was revised because Lebedev refused to stake his WBA world title in the contest - and placed Lebedev in a position where he would walk away with a world title even in defeat.
After the contest, Lebedev complained that he was robbed on the cards and demanded a rematch.
...Lebedev the only top cruiserweight and only world champion in the division to refuse an invitation to take part in the World Boxing Super Series tournament.
"Why talk about the past, because it's already gone," Gassiev said. "Now the best fighters in the cruiserweight division are waiting for me, and Denis is not among them, so my team does not see any sense in a rematch. Denis himself chose a different path. He's a great guy and a great boxer."
Lebedev chose the path of least resistance, so **** him! Gassiev, Usyk, and Dorticos should all head to the HW division as planned!
