Comments Thread For: Jack: I'm More Skilled Than Adonis Stevenson - His Era is Over!

WBC light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) has been highly criticized for not facing the best competition in the last few years, but that won't be the case in his upcoming fight. Stevenson, who scored knockouts in six of his eight title defenses, will face his toughest opponent - at least on paper - in the last few years, when he takes on former two-division champion Badou Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs).

Stevenson is a one trick pony. Take away the left and he has no chance. Jack has the skills but I don't think he has the concentration or the chin. Not calling him china chin but he will get dropped if he doesn't negate that left. The jab of Stevenson is not that sharp but I don't think Jack has the power to hurt him. I hope I am wrong. Other than that Jack stands little chance to survive the other LHWs.

badou got dropped by James fûcking degale who doesn't punch so hard,if Stevenson lands flush I think its all over,Jack has to take stevenson's left hand out of the equation whether he has the boxing skills to that or take stevenson out with his own power we'll see

He's absolutely right. He is more skilled and I agree that Stevenson is all about that left hand counter or lead. However, it's one hell of a "one-trick" and happens to be consistent. Not to mention his speed and ability to land that left at just about any distance is unbelievable. You have to be one your A game from bell to bell to survive that.

LMAO!!! Stevenson never had an era. He pissed away his fifteen minutes trying to stretch it to an hour.

That I agree with. I am actually a Stevenson fan, but it never seemed like there was a push to have the mega fights. It seemed like he was content holding the lineal title as if that would hold his #1 credibility. Ward and Kov surpassed that. Now he's just a title holder until he unifies.

The belt doesn’t make the champion. The champion makes the belt. And that seems lost on this most recent era of fight fans.

As for Stevenson. I view him as a guy that was in the right place at the right time and got hold to a shot to hell Dawson. And you’re right, he never seemed to wanna cement his place at the top of the division. I don’t think he was afraid of Kovalev. I simply think financially, Kovalev didn’t bring much more to the table than the softies he was being fed. So why take the risk. As a fan, it sickens me. But I understand it from a business standpoint.

I remember when Bellew disparaged Stevenson as a "midget" and got hammered. Now he's telling he'll beat Usyk.

Jack should focus on his own aims rather than talking about the end of Stevenson, who is limited but could whack him out of there with a single punch.

lol jack has little chance with other LWH...foh bivol proved nothing, alvarez struggled with chilemba, kov hates body shots, gvozdyk nearly got bodied by a ten day notice karpency, and beterbeiv just with 12 with a guy jack would have ended....
