Con****uously missing Korea, China(for now), India (for now...

But it seems Puerto Rico has Norte champions per 100,000 people.

The U.K. too, although they have a population roughly equivalent to South Korea, those bad teef, pint guzzling, "Fish & Chip's" eating vatos can and do throw down!

One would think that eating ****y food lights the fire within Mexicano's, but we just love to fight any way. Korea let me down... Taiwan isn't know to be a boxing nation...

My beloved Philillpines is well represented, as well as Thailand... Absent Chris John, Indonesia or where ever he's from don't like combat sports, unless they are shoot people in East Timor ...

Yea man, I feel you. You know I've been in the ROK for a minute. It's strange that South Korea has a population similar to the UK, yet it's missing on this list. I wonder why. There are quite a lot of boxing gyms around this country.

I know there are some proud Koreans that post here like FinitoxDinamita. Maybe he can stop by and give us some thoughts about the land of the Morning Calm.

Good post, man. Haven't seen this one done here before and it's definitely a very interesting list! Japan did much much better than I thought! Respect!

Because the trainers/coaches here are rubbish.Dont have a clue how to teach a British Fighter to have good defence.North American Trainers(Mexican,American) are the best,Tactics,Offensive and Defensive Techniques.Talent is not the problem in the UK,it's coaching and traning which is garbage.Lennox Lewis showed,North American Trainers can transform your career.Imagine if he hadnt had Steward in his corner ??

I wonder if Ray Mancini killed boxing in Korea when he beat Doo kuo kim to death in the ring.. Not sure if you remember that fight? It caused 15 round fights to drop down to 12 rounders.. Boom Boom Mancini put them thangs on that Korean man (RIP)

It was so sad.. Ring deaths are just sad...

Yea man, I definitely remember that one. I wonder what the boxing scene was like here after that.

Besides that and Roy Jones being robbed here in Seoul, I can't think of much else regarding S.Korea and boxing. There was actually another Korean boxer I used to watch not long ago. I can't remember his name though. He was kind of a face first brawler type. Strong dude, but lost his biggest fights.

It's just not such a popular sport here anymore, from what I can see. Most of the places use it for fitness. There is a Canadian here who owns a nice gym and he's serious about trying to get champions, but a lot of the people he works with are foreigners. One of my little homies wants to be professional. A Korean dude who dropped out of school and is doing it full time. Only 16 years old. He's hoping to move over to the US soon and make it big.

I liked the food in South Korea, and the ****y hot Korean women who were really passionate and crazy jealous. I was there in the late 80's early & late 90's, 2008 was the last time I laid pipe there.. You must have had your fair share of "bi bim bap" ? And I ain't asking about the food, no bulgogi here brother..

I agree with you about British trainers, you get the odd exception like Adam Booth but in general they are poor. The fact that Tesco Joe and Tony Simple have stable’s of fighters speaks volumes of the state of British training. Too many fitness trainers and not enough teachers.

Agreed.. But Japan does have 86 world champions under its belt.

I was pounding so many of them, that instead of using their names, I'd just call them "baby" or "baby girl" they ate it up..
and I tore it up. I kept tearing it up.. Good times!! Real Good!! Enjoy brother... are they still crazy about brothers and Mexican dudes there?

You're probably right. This issue gets funky when you consider migration of fighters in lower weight classes who relocate to Asia (Linares and so on), Aussies in Thailand, the great exchange between Asian and Central and South American nations in this way.
