It's very common for A side fighters to have a rematch clause in the contract. Nothing new is happening here.

The way Wildier is talking makes it seem like inside he's scared and he's trying to sike him self up. However I am thinking AJ is scared cuz he's not really pushing for the fight. Either way this will be an big big fight if marketed right. All Americans like an heavyweight fight. Both undefeated. For all the belts? Wow just wow. The winner will be an huge world star. Something we havnt seen since Tyson. Don't give me Lennox he was hated and f Rid****. Holyfield Nahhh.

Would be more fair if both could have it though. A side earns more but the idea of being able to force and refuse a fight at the same doesn't sit well with me.

I don't think Wilder is scared, I think he truly believes he can win and will win. It's his handlers and other people he's desperate to try and convince that he can beat AJ. You can tell in his language, he keeps saying he's real, and saying I "promise you". He knows how people see him and he's trying hard to convince people that he isn't the paper champion many have him pegged as.

AJ isn't chasing the fight because there plan has always been to fight Wilder later in 2018, that's been known for a while. Hearn and AJ have a long term plan, they want to break the US and Wilder is really the only shot they have at that as there are no other decent US heavyweights.

Hearn has talked for ages about this fight needing time to be built up. He asked for Wilder to raise his profile and Wilder has done that, him and his GF are on a TV show, he's finally fighting someone decent in Ortiz, Wilder's PR game has been on over drive.

So far everything is going as planned for Hearn and likely Wilder's promoters too. I think both sides are trying to build the fight by delaying it and getting Wilder seen as a bigger threat. Will be interesting to see the rating for Wilder/Ortiz, if he can crack 1 mill then maybe Showtime will consider a PPV fight in the US which is what I think both sides want to maximise revenue.

The #1 threat to both Wilder and AJ is Fury.

LMAO at these peons fighting over his scraps. The king is back and they will have nowhere to hide.

Mr. Olympia should join the WWE like Ronda Rousey if he is scared and avoiding Wilder!!!

Looks as if wilder is overlooking grandad. That could be a mistake, he may be old but he can still fight.

Contract negotiations aren't about being fair (in boxing or in any other form that contracts are present) they are about balancing the interest of the parties and reflecting the commercial realities of the situation.

AJ has the bargaining power so he will have more influence on the terms of the contract. That's just the way it goes
