You can go from very powerful to absolutely powerless very quickly in this business. A decade ago Gary Shaw had a virtual monopoly on Showtime dates. Where is he now? A decade ago, Don King still had a lot of power at HBO. Where is he now?
There is no centralized league. It's the wild west. One or two fighters losing can be the difference between having all the leverage in the world and having no leverage at all.
The entire structure of the sport need an overhaul and three split universes doesn't benefit the fans IMO.
Imagine if the NFL was split into three leagues and the best teams never played each other? There's a reason the NFL & AFL merged. There's a reason the National League and the American League merged in baseball. There's a reason the NBA & ABA merged. The public wants one league to follow so they can see the stars vs. the stars.
Boxing basically had that when HBO was so dominant. This three way split is a nightmare. The only benefit to me is that without Arum, HBO's demise is far more likely and in the long run.
