Fight went how I expected although it took longer than I thought it would have. Kiram jabbing and clinching and Matthysse struggling to set up a shot in range. But when he finally set something up he ended it.

Matthysse's fights against back-pedallers tend to go like this. If they're not clinching every time he's in range he'll land a bomb eventually. But I think he's going to find it too hard to score consistently against these longer, taller guys at 147.
Perhaps Kiram studied Postol's game plan but couldn't pull it off? Kiram isn't really good as his record suggested. He really made the step up to world-class level competition and couldn't handle it. Its a pity as he has the size and frame to be a world beater.

Just glad for Matthysse to finally be a called a world champ and he really showed how happy he is after the bell. Hope he still has some good fights in him.

Thurman would be too expensive to payoff.

I couldn't disagree more: that was a tough and frustrating fight for Matthyse. Kiram had enough pop to keep Matthyse honest and over was a good boxer. He got clipped but was doing damn well up until that point.

I'd like to see him back against a top 20 guy.

Same here man, always been a fan of Maquina and I want to believe this was a legit KO, hope I'm just wrong but doesn't look like it, very suspect.

Matthysse or Kiram? Matthysse definitely will be fighting top contenders. I doubt we will see Kiram again on HBO and he'll be out for some time after the pounding he got. He still only 25 so he still has time to get back on his feet. The Matthysse fight is a good experience for him to feel what its like to fight a world class fighter and not all the weak competitors he's been fighting.
